The Past of Tinsith part IV

On that morning, Tinsith woke up screaming, like the days before. While crying, she decided to go back to the village, to see if there were any survivors. So she got up, dressed herself, and went to the stables, to mount her horse, Grayel. On the way there, she saw the second guard crying, hugging a little girl who was also. She noticed, after looking longer, that the girl was missing the end of her left arm. Tinsith couldn't help but crying, because the scene was touching, but also because she didn't have any family left to go to. She turned away, blinking the tears away, and arrived at the stables. Her horse was nervous, and trying to kick the stable boys away, but when it saw her, it immediately calmed down. She prepared him for riding, and as she was about to leave, the first guard came over.

'Thank you for warning us about the wargs. My friend wanted you to have this as thanks. It saved his daughter, even though his wife died.' He said while handing over a small package.

Tinsith nodded and took it. She put it in her bag and rode off. In the woods, she found the corpse of her mother ripped to pieces. The horse was no where to be found. She gathered the pieces of body in a cloth and brought them with her. When she finally arrived to her home, the sight made her cry and almost vomit. It smelled like death and blood, on top of the disgusting warg odor. The body of her brother was crumbled in front of the door. She put the pieces of her mother beside him and went to search for her father. She found him dead, near the fields. His heart had been ripped out. She dragged the lifeless body near those of her mother and brother. When she was done, she heard a noise coming from her right. She thought it was a survivor, but a goblin came instead.

'Ooh! Fresh meat!' It said when it saw her. 'Come 'ere lunch!'

Anger surged through Tinsith. She walked towards it without fear, and with a look on her face that would of made anybody run. The goblin didn't seemed to notice and unsheathed his knife. He tried to stab her when she got near, but she easily evaded it. She grabbed his arm with one hand and punched him in the face plenty of times with the other. The goblin squirmed and struggled, but nothing could stop her now. When she finally let go, the goblin fell, dead. She grabbed it by the feet and tossed it as far as possible. She turned and saw a boy and a girl looking at her behind some hay. Her expression softened and she approached the children slowly.

'Who are you?' The boy asked. He looked about 14 and the girl seemed to be 11.

'My name is Tinsith, you?' She replied.

'I'm Curtis and this is my best friend Lily.' He said nervously.

'I need to go back to Snowbourn before dusk arrives. Want to join me?' She offered. 'I won't hurt you.' She added, seeing the fear in their eyes. The children finally agreed to come.

So they went back to Snowbourn for the night. Before going to bed, Tinsith did a silent prayer for her family.

''When I think I had it bad, I think of the children that lived that too. They could of had a happy childhood, but now it's ruined.''
