It is hard to quantify how much has been done and achieved in recent months.. with many new faces in the Mithdirith many of whom have now received their “blues” our attention up till now has been Ered Luin.
Alfiriel whom on a patrol discovered a growing brood of Spiders in the North, this initiated much discussion within the Herth upon which a decision was reached to address the infestation. Alfiriel was handed the role of banner commander for the assignment. A detachment of Wardens whom escorted the sages of the Calarind order, Galvathalion, Istienriel and Ellethgil were dispatched to purge the brood from Haudh Lin.
Alfiriel did an outstanding job even though the assignment was fraught with some difficulties especially once the burning began of the nest, naturally the spiders were non to pleased with our aggressive presence. But the sages were kept safe and the brood was hewn and burned.
Once the dust had metaphorically settled from that engagement, reports were beginning to come in about further boldness from the Goblins within Rath Teraig, a small patrol consisting of Durthand, Alfiriel and myself were dispatched to investigate.
Returning from the patrol and after presenting our report it was clear the Goblin’s were growing ever bolder and had begun encroaching from within their warrens. A choice was made to address the threat, the Herth would plan to assault the Warrens directly, to enter and purge the Goblins in their very home. A stark message it would leave.
The strike was a success owing much to the efficiency of our scouts (Linnethril & Hallothel)and the compliment of sages that were apart of assault. We journeyed deep into the heart of the Warrens keeping careful note of the way back, lest we were overwhelmed. I owe a great deal of gratitude to the Order of Calarind that day for after a severe blow from a large cave troll and blood loss from the wound I received much needed treatment. There is no doubt in my mind they are a huge boon to our present and future endeavours.
It took me several days to find my strength again after the head wound had been inflicted.. Hallothel spent a lot of her time ensuring I was cared for as I healed.. she is very dear to me now..
We have, since the strike, spent a lot of our time preparing, we shall soon journey eastwards as there is much to address and the Mithdirith is now more or less at full strength. None the less it was good receive another new face wishing to join the ranks of the Mithdirith. Hwethlenn has been assigned to me for training and mentoring. Thus far it has been productive and she has applied herself very well, save for the error of turning up late on her first day of training, I do not think she will repeat that mistake.
Alas there is no more time to write.. the Herth will muster soon and we will ride East. We are forced to train some while travelling which will have its own perils and boons, my hope is that as many whom have ridden out will likewise return in good health.
