Rohirrim ride for Thorenhad (Pt2 of the Mustering of the Rohirrim, from the point of view of Rivendell)

Rohirrim ride for Thorenhad (from the point of view of Rivendell)

The Rohirrim accompanied by many families began to make their way westward towards the Last Bridge. Aeradin and his sister rode in their wake trying to use the terrain to mask their presence, but they believed some of the more keen eyed riders had seen them. The pair could not utilize their camouflage skills to blend in very well in the bleak terrain. They knew soon they would come across the open plain before the bridge so they sped ahead to the far side of the bridge to speak with one of the other warders stationed there so word could be passed to Rivendell. Then they waited.

The pair watched as the riders approached the bridge their Captain taking the lead at this point. As the two groups eyed one another a rider rode up his face hidden by a deep hood, but the clasp upon the riders cloak gave him away as one of the Warders of Imladris, and the pair knew this was Lord Tagos. He was one of the elven Lords of the Warband of Imladris, he was well known in Rivendell for his woodland skills and mastery of the bow. Khalis another of the Officers of the Warband had a deep respect for Lord Tagos, but he could be very impetuous at times. Deferring immediately to the elven Lord the pair listened to the exchange between Lord Tagos and Captain Ceobrand. It was again evident that the Rohirrim Captain had no trust for elven kind and that added to the nature of Lord Tagos quickly saw the conversation turned a little troubled. The Captains riders Aeradin observed were of mixed views regarding the arrival of Lord Tagos. Some were in awe, some seemed angry that an ‘elf’ was barring their way. Aeradin noticed this agitation was transferred to their mounts for one or two of them began to stamp their feet in the dirt of the road. Captain Ceobrand was left with a warning that they will be watched by the elves & rangers of the Rivendell if they proceeded further west. He informed them that Rivendell was concerned about the nature of the armed warriors that was approaching. With that the elf lord left the Rohirrim Captain to consider his words.

Aeradin and Killandra has watched the exchange and knew they were to once more shadow the Rohirrim caravan as it once more moved slowly off along the western road. Over the next day or so the Rohirrim warriors were seen keeping the road clear of creatures that may have caused harm to the families travelling with them. The warband Rangers could maximize the use of their skills to remain unseen for the most part. But the odd keen skilled Rohirrim caught sight of a ranger now and again.

(OOC- At this point the outriders and the Warband scouts had some great fun trying to spot one another. Thanks to the outriders for the fun cat and mouse ).

The Rohirrim at a signal from their Captain then unexpectedly turned off the main highway up the pathway to Thorenhad. The rangers at this turn of events immediately sought higher ground to get a better view looking down into the ruins and so they lost sight of the Rohirrim for a short time. When they had gained the vantage point they saw the Rohirrim had begun to make camp inside the ruins setting up a strong perimeter sentry position. It was evident that there were some very experienced commanders among their party.
