Journey to Forochel , Two

Journey to Forochel , Two

“A…….B……C……….” Mugendo Muttered to himself as ran his finger along the spines of the books.  “Elves” he suddenly  exclaimed,  loudly enough to shock the songbird into silence, turning to the cage he spoke directly to the little creature staring back at him….”They make the finest furniture Birdie, A good enough reason in itself to visit them again”, in reply the songbird struck up a new tune to whistle as Mugendo turned his attention back to the books packed tightly together.

“D…..E……Aha here we are Birdie, Forochel”, The book seemed reluctant to leave it’s place on the shelf as the books either side conspired to hold tightly to their companion. A hearty pull extracted the book as Mugendo resolved to get a bigger bookcase.

The crackling log fire orchestrated the shadows that flickered and danced around the room, Birdie in the cage had ceased singing  as the sunlight fell from the windows, His head tucked down into his chest sleeping lightly.

Oblivious to the  passage of time  Mugendo leaned on the table, quietly  Sucking on his pipe as he cross referenced the maps and books spread before him.

Usva coughed and spluttered suddenly enough to shock Mugendo from his thoughts, Instinctively he reached out to assist her, the relief in his voice was clear to as he spoke to her,

“The finest Medicine….A certain cure for any ailment for anyone on a cold day”..smiling broadly he pulled the flask of Brandy from beneath his cape and held it to her lips.
