It was a rainy day in Rivendell as Nindis sat by the fireplace, contemplating. The warm light of the flames was softly reflecting from her golden hair as the gray and deep blue hues of the rainy weather filled the hall.
Then she heard noises from the other side of the hall, apparently some dwarves were making an entrance with a lot of bumping and puffing. One could hear the scuffing of their beards from across the hall, save their loud grumpings. Nindis immediately recognized that the visitors were the Longbeards and her friend Frimsi amongst them. She smirked, shaking off her mood and getting ready for whatever Frimsi had brought hidden under his beard. She raised from the side of the fireplace and walked towards the visitors.
The dwarves looked weary and possibly thirsty and hungry. They had left their wet cloaks on the side and were preparing to relax for the evening to come, first they had to dry their beards.
- Greetings to you, merry visitors!
Frimsi recognized Nindis and smiled widely as they hailed each other.
- Good day to you, Nindis, I was hoping to find you in here, said Frimsi.
- Tell me what brings you here ?
- What wouldn't! Your wine, tricky dances and the beauty of your halls, of course; though they could use more crystal and certainly better stonemasonry, I should say. Nindis, listen, I have come with the panacea all of the Middle Earth have been looking for!
Nindis felt what was coming yet kept silent.
- What do you mean, Master Frimsi ? Let us drink some and I will be more than eager to listen to your find!
They moved into the hall where wine and certainly nice snacks were served. They seated themselves close to the source of the food and wine and kept on chatting.
- So, what is this wonder you speak of ?
Frimsi produced a small blue gem from his pouch and showed it to Nindis. Nindis took the gem gently -which was most certainly just glass- and held it towards the firelight. Frimsi felt and looked pretty uneasy at this gesture but shook that off in less than a moment.
- What is the specialty of this glass piece, Master Frimsi ?
Nindis asked bluntly.
Frimsi's inner soul grumbled, you could see that in his eyes but his voice did not give him in.
- Well... it is... just a piece of glass really, but I call it Glass of Hope! You lay your hopes and wishes on it and its presence reminds you of them. Quite a solid and shiny presence, I have to say!
Nindis nodded.
