A woman in her late twenties with long, raven hair, often worn up in some fashion, either practical or showy depending on the situation. Her dark blue eyes seem like a pool of stars at night without ripples, even in times of great stress. Her figure is slim though not weak and she carries herself with an unyielding elegance. She stands tall and proud at 5'9".

She adorns herself only with the richest quality of fabrics and jewels, though she does have a mind for details and doesn't flaunt her great wealth in places and instances where it is not needed. When she is working or traveling, she forgoes the grandeur, though her choices remain as high quality as ever.

She often carries with her a small variety of staves and swords when traveling or working, depending on her mood, taste, outfit, etc.. On the fourth finger of her right hand she wears a golden signet ring set with a lapis lazuli bearing the engraved symbol of her late husband's estate (now her estate) for sealing purposes.

She actually smiles quite often, though the meaning behind her smiles - genuine joy, humor, thinly veiled anger, or sarcasm - can sometimes be difficult to place. When about her property she often has some sort of animal companion with her - her fondness for them made obvious.

She is both respected and somewhat feared by her peers in Gondor - much to what appears to be her own personal amusement.

Background

Scholar, Tutor, Widow...

Disobedient, Cunning, Upright...

Words and more words have always surrounded her since the hour of her birth. Not a second son, but a useful daughter. She was sent away with her mother to Imloth Melui as a very young child to further her studies and continue her very carefully planned upbringing while her father and older brother fought for the Steward.

There she was made to study hard, almost every waking moment spent pouring over books, attending lessons, becoming the exemplary daughter her parents desired. But, there she also sought for some sort of freedom, hiding in the rose blooms during moments her mother and the Lady of Lossarnach, once the Steward's sister, now the wife of Lord Forlong, pretended not to see her. Rondail was allowed her small rebellions; harmless child's play and so long as it did not reach her father's ears, she would not be scolded.

Until, it came time for her to return to the White City at the tender age of thirteen; not quite a woman grown, but more than old enough to put her studies to good use and make a name for herself among her peers. Helhon made it clear that his daughter was to excel in everything she put her efforts towards. In three years her efforts paid off and she was granted a place with the scholars of the Old Archives. And she did do very well - too well. Her studies were meant to make her a more desirable asset to a future household instead of a notable person in her own right.

It also did not take her long to make friends of her own outside the arranged meetings set up for her: a serving girl from the lowest tier - Neliel. Together they passed time in stolen moments in the more secluded areas of Minas Tirith. For a handful of years, they figured that, so long as they kept quiet about it, they would not be scolded. As they grew closer, the took more precautions... But, like all good things, it was not meant to last. Of course Rondail's father wondered why his daughter's maid was coming and going more often than she needed to. It enraged him. The two women were parted and never saw one another again.

A match was arranged with an esteemed and thoroughly wealthy merchant of Belfalas. He was a widower with a considerable sum of money who knew the art of the deal quite well and was known to be quite generous with those who had something he wanted to offer... and did not ask for an overly generous dowry. If Rondail was unhappy with the match, she could not express it. If she saw marriage as a way to escape her being under her father's thumb, with no help from her passive mother or duty-bound brother, then she made no indication of it. Impassivity was the mask she wore around others, neither smiling nor giving away her thoughts.

Seasons came and went. In another handful of years, Alphalas' health began to decline rapidly until he died, leaving Rondail a widow. In a stroke of fortune, good or ill, both her father and brother were killed in the line of duty and her mother secluded herself within one of her estates in grief. Where once she was forced to wait, forced to keep herself separate and sane, she is now the master of her own fate.

Rumors started soon after and continue to circulate that perhaps Alphalas did not die of natural causes...
