Many thoughts had been racing through Masin's mind as he walked the woods of his property. The wind whirled the leaves around the trees and the moon high in the sky lit the path he wandered down. Addie and Amho rested in the old farm house as he went on his patrol. The talk they had still filled his mind and heart. Amho, much like himself, had her family taken from her and she had been left to find her place in this mad mad world. Masin thought to himself, when all you love is taken from you and you are left with nothing, you wonder why. Why was I left here? Why was I not taken too. Am I being punished or is there some greater task that still lies ahead? Is this why? Am I meant to die in this battle while the rest of Middle Earth lives on, never the wiser they were ever in peril? Or am I meant to live on and one day find peace and love again? Or shall I walk alone until I meet those I have loved in the hall of our ancestors.
The thought of ancestors reminded Masin of how he wished he had known more of his father's past, it was not something anyone spoke of. He knew his mother was from Bree, but his father did not have the look of a man from Bree, though that is where his parents met. Masin looked just like his father but for one thing, his eyes. Both were tall with dark hair and a strong build. But Masin has warm green eyes with flecks of gold in them just like his mother, and his father's eyes were grey.
When Masin first arrived in Bree he had gone to the town hall and told the record keepers his family name. He had hoped to find out more about his father. They looked him up and the name was there but only under his mother. It was her birth name, not his fathers. There were no records on him.
So many questions raced through his mind as he approached the old farm house, his patrol at its end. It was now the eve of battle and the past did not matter. The only thing that mattered was for him to stand strong next to his friends. He had to stay in control of the anger, and rage, and power that comes with wielding great strength and to funnel that power into taking down his enemy. He must stay as resolute as ever, instilling his friends with the confidence they need to live through this battle.
