An eye for an eye
Submitted by Tolmen on June 7th, 2019
There is a black leather bound box inside the parcel, and inside of that, nestled in crimson velvet for safekeeping, is an extremely strange object, looking up at you. For one thing, it glows gently in the dimness of the box, as though an ember is caught inside the sphere of seamless, polished crystal.
The iris and pupil are extremely realistic, under a lens of flawlessly polished aquamarine, but something about the blackness of the pupil looking up is fell and dark, even enough so to make the inlaid mithril that makes up the silver-grey iris seem cold and shadowy.
upon lifting the eye, the half meant to sit inside the eye socket is clearly textured to not move around unduly, but it takes a second look to see that the entire sphere is swirled throughout and upon its surface with tiny, meticulously etched Tengwar, which read as a dramatic curse against those whose brethren took the original eye from you.
There is something of Shadow and Flame in it, and it does not look entirely wholesome or natural.
