Liffey's Drabbles - Entry 1

The trek back from Eregion was long and tiresome and hard. I had given up everything to go, my house was gone, and I didn't have any of my possessions left. I had enough coin to last me for a while, so I got a room with Barliman for the rest of the week, but I really don't wanna stay here for much longer. It's real nice, and Barliman is a real good innkeeper and all that, but it's always so busy. I get woken up really early in the morning and then I usually can't go to sleep until real late. I thought about going over to the Combe and Wattle instead, but there's a lot of trouble there sometimes.

Most of my day today was spent in the Pony. I visited the market for a bit. It always happens like this whenever I come back home from my travels. I sit for a while and then I grow bored of being in one place, and I always end up leaving again. I'm not sure where I'll go next time. I spent so much time in Eregion, it feels odd to come back to a place that you once considered home and everything's different. The people are different, the people that I used to know are gone and there's new faces that I don't recognize. The town itself feels different, even though all the roads are the same.

Today I sat in the Pony for the longest time with this man I had never met before. His name was Filisk. He taught me all the secret ways of wine, but I don't really get the big fuss about it. It's good and all that, but I prefer my mead and ales. He said that I needed to try the cheaper stuff to really appreciate it, but why would I need to try something bad just to think something else is good? It makes me think that maybe it isn't good at all in the first place. I'll keep trying it, though. He eventually left for the night, and then I headed to the back to get some sleep.
