Chapter I 5 Sunset over Evendim

I had to keep going. The storm had passed, the rain was soft. My horse seemed to want to hit the road again, I climbed on it without squeezing it. I doubled Oatbarton leaving the generous Hobbits and found myself in Evendim. The goal seemed finally to be within reach, according to the indications that had been given to me. I decided to set up my last camp on a hill after a good day's walk.

I climbed the hill, which had a regular and passable elevation, but it took a moment before I saw the summit taking shape. When I finally arrived on the top of this hill, I saw all the beauty of Lake Evendim, which had purple and transparent reflections, with the sun setting in the distance passing under the clouds, and bathing the ruins of Annúminas in its last rays. The short grass was like on fire, and he was painting a spectacular fresco before my eyes. I stopped without realizing it and took a few moments to look at the horizon. From the ruins of the old city came the history and strength of a whole people over generations.

The rain stopped, without me noticing it. I saw on the side Tinnudir Island, which I recognized immediately, it was the only place where a fire was lit on the shores of the great lake. This light indicated the presence of a camp a few hours away. Tomorrow I would have to go to the island where the meeting will be held.

I made my camp taking care to admire the sunset, then restored myself and finally I was going to spend a night preparing what would surely be one of the most important day of my life.
