An immortal memory

As Geth slept, Aeruthuil sat still in the grass to watch over their makeshift camp. His hood pulled down to his eyes and the bottle clutched in his hands he listens to the animals roaming the area. His eyes opened, looking down at the rings around his fingers reflecting the light of the moon before lifting the bottle back up to his lips for a long sip of his drink. He then closes his eyes a little, letting his mind wander to one the few memories he remembers clearly.

Aeruthuil walks in to the Prancing Pony Inn, with a quick glance he notices with a hint of irritation that many of the tables are occupied. His eyes dart from one table to the other as he slowly walks past the patrons oddly crowding up the entrance. Noticing a figure behind him near the wall he so often stands at he moves towards one of the large wooden beams holding up the old building's roof. As he wanders past the large table near the bar where the old man Barliman grumpily stares down two hobbits trying to sell him dandelions, his eyes fall on a redhead sat speaking with another young woman.

Aeruthuil blinks, he could have sworn there were many more not even a few seconds ago. Almost naturally his hearing starts to pick up the conversation the two were having, and he shuffles closer to the beam, only slightly turning to at least keep an eye on the door..-Just in case the young Rohirrim Forma Mæsterwigend, the son of an old friend of his, would show himself. He had heard that the young Lieutenant might need his help with moving his Éored back to Rohan and would meet him here.

He clears his throat, picking up how the young girl was telling the young redhead how she had been violated by a man they both seemed to know. He raises his brows, unsure of what to do with this information.. Perhaps it had been wrong of him to listen in, he knew that the common folk usually did not appreciate this. But then, the redhead made a bold statement, something about cutting off the man's head. Aeruthuil shifts, letting out a chuckle along with a smirk quickly appearing on his face hardly hidden by his hood which had almost blown off his head by the strong wind he earlier dealt with.

His eyes move suddenly from the door towards the table as the redhead had  turned towards him, having called out to him. She seemed mad, irritated. She was saying something to him. Aeruthuil opens his mouth, trying to remove himself from his thoughts as he stares at the woman, slightly nodding trying to seem as if he had been listening to her. Her accent was fascinating, but her eyes..-The woman's eyes a piercing bright and icy blue. But, what about her hair? The fiery red strands framing her young face, a few flyaways here and there causing him to only think she did not sit around all day reading books. Though, it could have been the wind outside.
He couldn't help but keep his eyes on her before finally muttering out, ‘’My apologies, My Lady..-I did not mean it like that.’’ Though he was not sure why he even apologized exactly, did she notice he had been listening in on them?

Quietly Aeruthuil steps back from the woman, almost trying to hide behind the other tables near the many stacked up barrels. As he sits down his eyes go back to the door, hearing the rather loud redhead speaking about him or to him. His mind already wandering back to why he had come there in the first place, though manages to pick up the words ‘rat droppings’ and he sniffs. Instantly regretting the latter decision he casts his eyes down to the floor, wrinkling his nose at the smell. Quickly he stands up, luckily at the same time the young Lieutenant Brywulf enters the Inn finally and Aeruthuil walks over to him to straight away drag the poor lad outside with him to discuss the man's options and matters.

Aeruthuil opens his eyes suddenly, the already vague image of Ayla's face slowly disappearing from his mind and he looks up at the stars with a sigh. It already has been over two years, yet the memory will never fade.
