Two weeks after he had departed he came to the region of Ered Luin. Relalas thought he travelled fast, but his father did beat him to it and was waiting for him at Celondim. He spoke to Relalas with the following words: “Suilad my son, thine mother bid me to accompany you eastwards. Luckily the pupil has not beaten the teacher!” he laughed. After a short stay at Celondim and Duillond they left the lands of Ered Luin and ventured further into Eriador. They passed the river Lhûn and the mountains Emyn Uial. On the east side of the mountain they made a camp, facing lake Evendim. Two days they did spend to enjoy the beauty of Arda and the sight of the city of Annuminas. They went North-East and passed Lake Evendim on the north side. For many months they travelled eastwards. Somewhere at the North Downs they did see city walls in the south.....Relalas asked his father which city that was. He told him that it once was a great city of men, now fallen into the hands of Angmariam forces. Relalas asked what lived within its walls at present but his father couldn’t answer except to bid Relalas not to go near it, never.
“I told you, do not come near this place !” he whispered at his son with angry. “Come now we have to leave this place, no sleep tonight for us now, we shall press onwards.”
Relalas followed, and they left the damned place behind them and marched the whole night. When dawn came they took a rest. His father then scolded Relalas for not listening to his words.
A couple of weeks passed while they headed towards the east, on the edge of the Ettenmoors they peered in the distance and black smoke was raising from the north-east. Relalas got the same feeling as he had at the City in the North Downs and said: “That smoke is made of evil, and evil will it bring.” His father could only nod in acknowledgement. They crossed the Vale of the Ettenmoors and did see the ruins of keeps, once belonged to the Free peoples of Arda. Once passed this vale the father of Relalas stopped, and said to him: “Now pay attention, I will show you the path to a place you will return to when need is there.”
Relalas replied: “I shall take heed of this path, father.”
Through secret roads and hidden mountain paths they went until they reached a vale, here Relalas did see a giant building, and a collection of smaller buildings. A big waterfall he did see as well that created a mighty stream through the vale.
His father said to him:” Welcome to Imladris home of Lord Elrond the half-elf.”
Never had Relalas heard of this name, yet he would soon know more about him and never forget. Months they stayed in Imladris, many tales were told by the inhibitors of Imladris, the fugitives of Eregion, and Relalas learned their fate and the fate of Lord Elrond the half-elf.
