Baralim was born in Tirion, Aman. When Feanor returned to Tirion and urged the Noldo to come forth with him and to be free of their “Bondage”, Baralim did not go for he thought Feanor was wrong But he did go forth with Fingolfin, whom he was most loyal to and came upon the journey to Middle earth. More and more days passed and more Noldo started to speak of ill-intent of Feanor, for their journey was most uneasy. After Fingolfin’s host came upon Alqualonde, thinking that the Teleri had attacked their friends under the orders of the Valar, which Baralim thought greatly and now seeing this he started to believe Feanor but only slightly. Later on, Feanor and his sons, betrayed Fingolfin and his host, burning the Swan-ships of the Teleri at Losgar, which forced Fingolfin’s host to cross Helcaraxë, the Grinding Ice. Many Perished when crossing Helcaraxe, though Baralim did not, for he was fierce in heart and swift, which owe him favor in the crossing, among the journey he met many Elves but none would compare as his greatest Friend Ornessar. When the Host of Fingolfin arrived in Middle-Earth, which they had camped at Lammoth, where the Battle of Lammoth took place against Orcs. Baralim quickly took up his spear and charged, leaping into the Air and plunging his spear into the Orcs, until they were defeated.

In the later First age, Baralim was in Nevrast, until going with Turgon and his people to Gondolin. Many years did Baralim dwell there, for it was there when he met his future wife, Sidhbain. He spent many days pondering about her and her fairness. After spending days and weeks with each other, did Baralim announce his love to her, which Sidhbain received with her own love. Next year, they were betrothed, and after that year they were married. Soon after their marriage, did they witness the fall of Gondolin, for they had escaped with the rest of the living citizens of Gondolin through the escape tunnel Idril thought of and Tuor made, and had escaped the coming destruction of Beleriand all together, heading east.

In the second age, Baralim and Sidhbain, with their four children, they had lived in Eregion before the War of the Elves and Sauron, for he had sent his four children and his wife to Imladris for he and he alone of his house aided Eregion in the war however it only proved fruitless in the end, for all of Eregion was destroyed and ruins left in it.     

In the Third age, his house had extended to all of Middle earth, some of his sons and grandsons having chose to live in Lothlorien and some in Lindon, but most were in Imladris. Sidhbain was an adept healer in Imladris, tending to many elves that were harmed in battle, she with the rare exception did heal some of the Dunedain but this was rare. Baralim himself was one of the commanders of Imladris, commanding a patrol group of his kin, his two sons and several of his grand-daughters were in this as well. In the Fourth Age, most of Baralim’s house had departed for Vailnor, besides him, his wife and some of his sons.
