Over water, wood, and stone
Through dark and light and danger
Wandering ever without a home
Comes striding the old Ranger
Winter's bite and summer's burn
The fickle twists of nature
From his path won't make him turn
The ever-faithful Ranger
None can love him, none can know
The weight of his great wager
Shunning family, hearth and home
Walk on, thou lonely Ranger
Morning, evening, shade and sun
Move o'er the unknown stranger
Death will grant his work is done
Rest now, O weary Ranger
