Captain's Quick Report: Bullroarer Took Yard Party Special

Another example of story-telling and traditions is to be said of the Hobbits whom were of this year’s Bullroarer Took Day celebrations; kept alive are the legends and feats of one ‘Bandobras Took’, for whom in the first battle to ever take place in the Shire, he did defeat a Goblin King and with it an invading force of Orcs.

And creative but historical (in spirit) are many of the themes which poets recited of the Bullroarer; some told of how good meals led to the victory of the Battle of Greenfields, others asserted one of the fears the hero had was of ill-sized undergarments, while songs and many lively tunes you ever did hear would ring throughout the air before the statue of Bandobras Took himself -- carved of wood and of immense size while overlooking the village of Brockenborings and beyond.

Here in music did the Greenbrambles play, and later on the Little Wanderers.  Both with wonderful melodies that seemed of exceptional match for the atmosphere of celebrating their hero Bandobras ‘Bullroarer’ Took, most certainly!

There was later on an Open Stage at the Plough and Stars, an inn residing in the Brockenborings a short walk up from the stables, and this all came after the final tune by the Little Wanderers ended, and before even that, the conclusion of a most interesting ‘re-enactment of the Battle of Greenfields’.  Where Hobbits would seemingly keep alive the heroics of their fabled legend by pretending to be Goblins and defending Hobbits respectively protecting their Shire-home!  A few drawings did I manage to sketch throughout the chaos that ensued; and it was a mighty sight to see what I must have sworn to be fire in the shape of dragons, being blown through the air, surely several miraculously un-melted snowballs, and plenty of involuntary fainting at several points throughout the mock battle!

I conclude this early report with an emphasis once more that on cultural events such as this so unique to the Race organizing it, in this case Hobbits of the Shire in most part, there can only be deep appreciation and wonder on my part as a travelling representative of the Guild; to see these many spectacles as my journeys take me throughout the lands of our known world.  Bullroarer Took Day is without a doubt one of the steadfast examples to take heed of how heroes can continue into legend through the passionate retelling and celebrations by those of the present times.

If one ever has the chance to make the journey to the Shire, and by chance have relevant business to attend such is the Hobbits' Bullroarer Took Day celebrations – you will perhaps experience, as I have, a most shining demonstration of how stories and history are carried on for generations, long after remarkable individuals or events have passed.

To those whom organized this Bullroarer Took Day, and to those poets, bands, and other helpers with a hand in making the celebrations such as they are; a hearty congratulations for your outstanding work and spirit in keeping the story of Bandobras ‘Bullroarer’ Took alive!

Signed,

P.S.

Soon after the celebrations today, it is said a group following in the footsteps of a delivery made last year of well-raised chickens from Farmer Sandson, a Hobbit in the Shire, will depart a few days from now bound for the same path their predecessors made into Evendim, with further rumours that an excursion into the more cold lands known only as ‘Forochel’ will also be had!  The next OAKS (Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series) will also be taking place another three days afterward, with the ‘Struck by Moonlight’ band being the featured guests to play, and indeed if the music from their performance at the Yard Party is anything to go by, there will be many hearts struck with the fine sounds of their music and songs indeed!  Another fine concert is planned as well, this time for Bree as the ‘Polnolunie’ band will perform what they call ‘Tears of Spring’; beautiful and slow music with lyrics to enjoy!  And should travelers happening to be in the Shire for good reason, there is ‘The Haunting of the Bridge Inn’ early in the next Month.  And be well on your guard if you do Master Reader – for music and badgers may be involved!

(( Disclaimer: Hello folks, I'd like to caution you that taking a look at the embedded slideshows coming up below will likely not go too well if your in a hurry, and hoping to just get a 'general gander' at what the event was like.  The 'Overview Collection' above is more suited for that!

Viewing the albums embedded below is more geared for those folks looking to get a /slightly/ more play-by-play spirit of how things unfolded.  In fact, I only recommend having a browse through if for some reason, you have an urge to well... just look at a lot and lot of screenshots -- many of the shot angles/perspectives being repeated in other screenshots but at different times during the event, etc!  Thanks for reading.

Extra Note: Remember as well that these screenshots don't capture every word and line spoken by those singing songs or reading out poems and stories!  Don't expect to catch everything that was said, but you should get a general gist/idea of things that were said! ))
