VIII. Blood and concerns

So here are we, deep in Chetwood. Prithbo and I analyzed the diary of the blackwold sergeant short ago. We discovered that Wargs are brought to this wood, many years ago. we discovered that they bred three wargs, but fortunately, we also discovered that the female warg died by a mysterious hunter, only a few weeks ago. Now we hunted for the great dangerous warg Baucharg and his descendants. But here were still brigands on the road and today, it isn't gone so swiftly as we hoped, to avoid a coming attack on Combe...

Prithbo and I both had some skills to read the tracks, and Prithbo seemed to be more experienced in that occupation. So he was the one who first spotted the tracks of a warg. "Theogorn! here! I found some!" Happy with the progress of our quest I quickly approached and I looked to the tracks. It wasn't a very big deal to notice something about this track: "This track must be of one of the wargs! But it is not a common track. The beast of this track must be lame. So this must be the track of the warg called Lamepaw by the sergeant."

We followed the track. Hobbits can naturally hear better as the people of Rohan i think, since common hobbits are more shyly and they will leave the road more quickly to hide if they heard a passenger. they are mainly shyly for us, the big folk. So now Prithbo gestured me to be quiet. it seems that he has heard something... so we quickly hid in the bushes. silently i leaned on my arms and I peeked out of it. I looked left, I looked right. nothing... I just wanted to turn my head to Prithbo to assure that everything was safe, when suddenly seeing something in the corner of my eye. I could just in time elevate my shield to protect me of an incoming blow. There were suddenly brigands! two or three, i couldn't see it! it was so fast. So I rammed with my shield into the brigand before me. he was now surprised by my strength I used but he seemed to not surrender. I made a large swing with my sword to his neck, though i did not know if I beheaded him or not. I don't think that I even wanted to know it, but I didn't feel any resistance. So I feared for the lads life. I quickly turned me and focused me on a next target. this one did not take so long. I gave this blackwold a large hit with my shield, he seemed to already be knocked down,  but I did not tarry to finish the work. So I put my sword in his belly and he was quickly defeated. I found it strange that Prithbo did not kill the second of the brigands. normally, he's quickly in defeating this bullies. At least, that was my experience in our travels.

But I looked back and the last brigand fell down. "So, we cleared these brigands at least! even when they surprised us. we shouldn't be surprised anymore in the future!" But I got no answer. Prithbo just kept staying. I remained where I was. I did not say anything, nor he did. after some creepy time, I found that I waited long enough. "Hello? Prithbo?" and I walked to him. He was suddenly startled, as he  awoke out of a trance. "eh, what?" I was relieved for a short moment and approached him when he suddenly succumbed. He fell down and I could intercept him just in time. "Prithbo?! what's this?" He mumbled and I panicked. honest, if something isn't going right, I always panic. when did I not in this adventure?! But this was completely wrong so I could rightly panic now.

"I was shot b-y a bla..ckwold...You must do this...f or Combe!" No! no! This looks bad. I immediately looked to the place where the arrow came, apparently in his leg. "This is the worst wound I've ever seen!" I shortly looked into one of my bags and I did not know that I was going to need this. I desinfected the wound, took some bandage and I rolled it around his leg. But the bandage looked soon red...This is one of the moments that I do not love the color of the Red Company... I looked back to him. At this moment, when all hope was lost, I saw that little mark. a small mark on his jacket with the sign of the Red Company. Though too much to bear, i looked surprised to the hobbit. yeah, the little fellow from who I got envy...But not anymore...not now. I shivered and stuttered. "you...you are one of the Red Company?" And the last words he said before he lost consciousness were: "Y...es...I am...d..do it..fo..r...them...."

I beared him to one of the bushes. he lost consciousness and I needed to hide him. I could not bring him back to the town because there all the people would be killed and the hobbit as well...If i did not succeed to kill the wargs and to prevent the attack. I wanted to make some fire, but that was not possible. It would do good for a wounded fellow, but yeah...no fire in the middle of the bushes, isn't it? And it would be observed too quickly here in the middle of the blackwold area.

It was here that I needed to leave him...I caught the track of Lamepaw again and went ahead with my quest...For Prithbo! For Combe! For defence! For the Red Company!!
