Background

FOREST WARDENS

The Old Forest... one of the last places of Middle-Earth where the time stood still and ancient relics of days long past live on ever more. As Lord Elrond describes it, "Time was once when a squirrel could carry a nut from tree to tree from Rivendell to the Great Sea!". Whispers of how Huorn may have survived within this enclave in Eriador, whispers that still linger within tales that the Hobbits of Buckland tell. Men fear it. And Dwarves hold no love for the Forest, but for timber.

But Elves... Elves have a special connection to the woodland, especially those of Silvan descent, favouring miles and miles under the canopy of trees over fortresses or cities of old. It were a few of Thranduil's Folk that could not resist the curiosity of what truth those whispers may hold, even among the immortal Elves, few have witnessed trees of ancient days. Believing they are gone forever, Tanathon and Ganneliel set out to investigate this remnant. They quickly found aid and friendship with the Dunedain of The Green Company, who linger in Eriador preserving and protecting their heritage and the people inhabiting it.

As the Elves started to enter the Old Forest, the alliance with the Men of the West was soon made. The project, however, could be seen as secretive as Esteldin is to the Rangers, but both respect one and another for it. More Elves will come, of that they are sure. What Elf of Thranduil's Folk can withstand the curiosity in Trees that have forsaken the Greenwood ages ago. What Elf of the Golden Wood might not want to compare the Forest to Mallorn, tall and proud? Even Elves of Lindon or Rivendell might want to study the secrets of the Old Forest, for they have mostly lived the longest and yet this Forest has endured as well.

OOC DETAILS:

We're an Elven kinship that seeks to create Elven RP in a foresty environment, ensuring an Elven community within the Old Forest, which, in our opinion, is an unmined spot within Turbine's LOTRO where Elves might dwell. We seek a fun and pure RP experience with Elves, that share one or many goals, but those do not have to be seperate goals and can be combined along one's preferences. The main goal is the Elven community within the Old Forest, alongside aiding the Dunedain of the Green Company, our allies. We realise the project might be considered a bit of lorebending, but in an acceptable way within Turbine's LotRO, which is the game we play after all.

 1) Protecting and preserving the Old Forest; which can be in a military way, cleansing it of Spiders or unwanted visitors, but it can be that you want to keep the Forest healthy and alive with your scholarly knowledge of herbs and nature. Perhaps you want to make lore about it in tales or songs, all of it is possible!

 2) Those of the Elves that which to aid the Dunedain, can find with us a home and place to stay among its own folk. The children of Men, even the blessed Men of the West, are too young for many an Elf to accompany them a long time. But also, those that live among our community can aid the Dunedain, whenever they need it. Honouring the Alliance of Elves and Men, once more and ever on. The Men of the West as well can enter the Forest to rest their souls, though some might still fear its crawling roots and whispering leaves.

 3) The Forest is still wild and very much alive or angry, we ICly will have to cleanse the Forest, step by step, the Withywindle River in the middle as some sort of border. Why? Because across it, Spiders are breeding way out of normal proportions, so if we can ICly keep the Spiders across the river, we can cleanse the northern part of the Old Forest and RP there in Elf Friendly, Safe Areas.

 4) We have no strict leadership or hierarchy. OOC there is the hierarchy of Founder, Leader and Officer and so on, like any kinship has. It is only logical, say if we welcome a scholar among our ranks, that people see him as the advisor for many troubles rather than the sentinel that kills spiders for a living. Elves live in harmony, that's key to our community and each role supports another in a way. We back eachother up.

RULES:

1) Knowing how to RP or willing to learn how to RP from eachother;
2) LVL is no point, but the mobs in the Old Forest are 16-25, so perhaps +25 is encouraged;
3) Be polite, aid one and another, don't be rude and act with proper manners, like you would anywhere;
4) Basic knowledge of lore is welcome, but willing to learn is key;
5) Any tale is welcome, we just need to make it entwined so it fits within our community;
6) Any role is welcome, archers, sentinels, wardens, scholars, cooks, lorekeepers, gardeners, musicians... we need a bright and versatile community as if it were real!
7) Dunedain with Elven alts, also welcome. Main Elves even more welcome!
