Malliel's Diary: Entry 5

Soon enough, I shall be ready to head home. The paths are more perilous, therefore I have been training with what little spare time is available.

I cannot wait to set foot in The Golden Wood once more. I hope to be there to visit family, before my marriage that is to take place in the Lady's Garden. Concerning family, I have not heard from my parents in months. I have sent them letter upon letter, only to get no response. Lahseth, however, has replied. She wishes me well in my career and my personal life. If only mother and father would be more receptive to what I do, and why I do it.

They do not approve of me serving the Galadhrim as a Warden, even moreso that I serve The Golden Host. They call it, "war-mongering". I find their remarks insulting. I love them so very much, I wish they would see sense! I know not of how they feel about my betrothal to Andarne, I suspect they do not approve of it, either.

While my love did ask Tinuvinil my mentor, for my hand, he wishes to ask my parents. When we return home, we shall seek them out. Very soon, I shall be blessed with my own progeny. I wish for my parents to know their grandchildren. I hope by the time I have birthed them, matters will be resolved. I hold hope, as my beloved advises.

I wish I was as confident as he in this situation. He is always so supportive, confident and understanding. I am so fortunate to have him as my future husband. He is much older than I, and it certainly shows in his experiences of the world. That is not a bad thing, however.

Now, I must lay down my quill. I have new recruits to find and training to partake in.
