Time stopped as Deorgast stood there, dagger in hand. A woman stood as well in front of him, a blank gaze on her icy eyes and blood dripping from her chest, as Deor's dagger stood sharply buried within it. She coughed some blood before giving Deor a final look and her knees failing, making her drop dead to the ground. Deor observed in despair as the corpse laid there, letting go of the dagger as soon as he felt her falling.
It all started a few minutes before, as Deorgast wandered in the region of Evendim. He had left some days ago, escaping from Bree to clear his mind, and enjoyed a good hunt there, on the borders of the Shire. He was about to go search for his loyal horse, pack behind his shoulder, as he heard some shouting coming from an old shack, one he had passed before but thought abandoned. He sighed, smelling the scent of trouble coming, but yet he could not ignore this, so he abandoned his pack and readied his bow, running swiftly towards the shack.
With his back leaning on the wall, Deor pushed his ear against it so he could overhear what was happening inside. There was no doubt. "It seems as they're abducting her". He thought there was no coming back now, so he pecked through the small window. Indeed, he saw two men, those who didn't seemed as misfits at all, However, the woman that was with them seemed scared for her life.
Deor grabbed his old dagger, since he kept no sword with him. He peeked through the window once more, only to see one of the men slapping and grabbing the woman from behind, pushing a dagger to her neck. He quickly wan towards the door, tackling it and pushing it wide open, dagger drawn and ready to fight, only to see the man cowardly pushing her towards him. When Deor realized, there was too late, as his dagger was already buried in the woman's chest.
He froze for a few moments as he looked to the dead woman, his clothes stained by her blood. The bandits grabbed their opportunity and ran towards him, stabbing him on the shoulder before quickly escaping, leaving no trail of their presence.
On the shack, the only remains were the injured Deor, his gaze fixed on the corpse of the innocent woman he had murdered.
