Two stolen paintings by a very famous artists hung in a simple hobbit living room for nearly 10 years -- without the hobbit knowing just how valuable they were. Now worth an undisclosed sum of gold coins, the artworks were stolen from the artist's studio 10 years ago and then abandoned on the side of the road, just near a bridge outside Hobbiton, the Shire.

Bree's Art and Cultural Department unveiled the two paintings this week after they were recovered by a special branch of Shire bounders, specialized in finding stolen art and lost mathoms, following an "incredible" series of events. The paintings were originally found wrapped in cloth near a bridge and kept in the Mathom House lost and found storage facility in the Shire. The hobbit, a farmer from the Southfarthing, paid 2 silver coins and 5 shillings for the pieces at an art auction of unclaimed mathoms.

The hobbit is a art lover and collector, but he had no idea of the real value of the paintings. The hobbit, whom we will not name to protect his identity, hung the works in his Hobbiton home before taking them to the Southfarthing when he retired. Both paintings have now been returned to the original artist and creator whom is said to be very grateful - the artworks will be part of and art exhibition in Bree. Printed copies of the paintings will be for sale at a very reasonable price.

 Laurelin Archives 's Tutorial

- How To Correctly Credit Artwork On The Laurelin Archives -

"Hey, I made that painting!”

One day an artist discover his/her own paintings/photographs, have been used on a website but their names  or the source of the art are not mentioned by the posters. Art is wonderful and artists love to share their work on the internet, all they ask is that we remember to  mention they made that nice painting or photograph .

In order to avoid copyrights problems , you need to cite the original source for each photograph/painting  you place on the Laurelin Archives, unless it’s your own, of course.

The next question is: What is an original source? An original source is the artist/photographer or the publication/site for which the image was created. Original sources do not include sites like Google Image Search, Tumblr, Flickr, Pinterest. When you find a nice image you want to use on the internet, right-click on it  and then chose 'Search Google for this image'  by doing so you will be able to find the original source/DeviantArt artist that created that artwork.

Crediting art correctly is important -- artists love to create and share with all of us so it is only fair we mention them to avoid any  legal copyrights issues.

Thank You for your collaboration in helping us running The Laurelin Archives.
