Departure

The little gold and white mare pawed the earth impatiently. It was as if the horse knew of the importance of the journey and was urging Fairlain to make haste. The young huntress secured the last strap on her satchel of provisions and was slinging the bow of the galadrim over her shoulder when she heard the light footfalls of running feet coming up behind her. It was Nimrandir the glade-walker.

"Faerlhain!" he called, "Please wait! The Lady said I was to go with you..." he paused to catch his breath. "It gave my heart great joy when I hear you had returned to us! I wished to tell you..." He looked into Fairlain's smiling face and stopped. The radiance of his expression dimmed somewhat, and he unconsciously took a small step away from her.

"Well met, Nimrandir!" Fairlain smiled. "I am happy you will travel with me...that lightens my heart very much!"

Nimrandir bowed his head to her, and his expression became impassive as only a male elf's can."It is my joy to be at your service."

"We must leave quickly, though. What was is you wished to tell me?"

Nimrandir looked away as a horse was brought up for him to ride. He again inclined his head politely to Fairlain before leaping upon the horse's back.
"It is not meet I should say such words to one who is bonded..."

Fairlain frowned, "What are you talking about? This no time for riddles ...we must ride and quickly!"

She clambered onto Daysey's back and proceeded out of the gates of Caras Galadhon at a brisk trot, the glade-walker following after.
