The Way Back Home: part 6

A familiar flag

Near the borders of Mirkwood. I decided to get a guide again because people say you easily get lost in the forest. An elf. I distrusted this elf for some reason, there was something about him. We took the old forest road. We traveled fairly untroubled but some giant spiders, through Mirkwood. We did not even lose the way once even altough I velt very strange walking on the path as if some magical spell had taken my brain over. My guide luckely did not suffer from those effects so we did not get lost. There were rumors about an army near eastern Mirkwood marching north. No one knew what kind of army, from where and with wherefore it was marching north. The only thing some elves said is that most of them were wearing gold or bronze like armor. I knew enough, an army of Rhûn was marching on Erebor and I had a strange feeling this wasn't the smallest army..

Me and my guide got close to the border where he would go back again. We came by another outpost. The elves here told me what I was dreading the most, an army of Rhûn was indeed marching towards Erebor. There we already some skirmishes going on on the road towards the Lonely mountain they said. We continued to the last outpost. We crossed the border of Mirkwood and came by a large open area. Suddenly the ground started shaking I looked to my right and there it was: a battalion of Rhûn. My elf-guide ran away in fear. Coward!! I shouted. Bloody elf just abandoning me. I ran to a large rock to avoid being spotted and then I realised that it was just like the dream. The ground shaking, soldiers of Rhûn. A battle was coming, I saw on one side the battalion of Rhûn and on the other side a dwarf battalion. I knew this wasn't going to be over quickly.

I smelled a chance to proving myself again in combat. So I quickly put on my armor And my helmet this time and ran towards the dwarf battalion. But when I got close I saw it...   My families banner hanging proud, it was the Silverguard!

Here ends part six of my story.
