The Captivity
The Rescue Quest
Dhordur Stonebeard, son of Ghord Stonebeard had just been able to track a camp of Dourhands to an area near Angmar. It was the camp that had his son captured. Dhordur had been looking for his son for a long time now as he had been kidnapped after a skirmish for a long time back.He decided to gather a small group to save his son. He gathered a few and told them about it, only four of them wanted to help him. It was two Dwarves and two of the Man kind. They set up a plan and gathered the things they would need. He even sent a letter that a Man was going to deliver to Thorin's Hall, to the Durins Folk.
Early on the morning a few days later they traveled towards the Dourhand camp. One of the men took a scouting trip closer to the camp. When he got back he told the rest about how many that was there and that a Troll or two was there as well and some Goblins. They started their plan and moved closer, one of the men was going to start a fire to get enough of the Dourhands to try to put the fire out so the rest could get the prisoners out. When the fire started, the rest went into the camp, by the cages. Dhordur saw his son and headed straight for him. He took his axe and swung it in one hard move towards the lock and it broke. He hugged his son and they were both happy for the moment. The others started to free other prisoners.
But just as two more prisoners got freed, skeletons and ghosts started to appear from the ground. The rescue was going bad, one of the men got slain along with one of the Dwarves. The rest of them got captured.
The Imprisonment
Dhordur and the rest was captured now. They were brought before the camp leader that was a Dourhand lord. Next to him stood a hooded man and the man that was suppose to deliver the letter to Durins Folk. The Dourhand lord handed a bag of gold to that man. The man that was still alive from the rescue team got executed in front of the rest by the Dourhand lord. The others got caged along with Dhordur and his son.
They were caged there for around a week before the Dourhands traveled on. At each camp they stopped, Dhordur got tortured for information. After a few weeks did he and his son get separated as the Dourhands split up into two groups and went different directions. Dhordur started to loose track of time and where they could be.
Once at a camp he got taken in front of that Dourhand lord again. He wanted information on the Longbeards movements. Dhordur swore then that once he was getting out of this imprisonment the lord was the one to die first. The lord only laughed and sent him back to the cage. That hooded man that he had seen many times before when ghosts and skeletons had risen came from time to time and met the Dourhand lord. Dhordur figured out that the hooded man was an necromancer that could call on the dead to battle by his command. He had even seen the eye sign many times during his captivity.
Promise Fulfilled
They just arrived to an camp close to the border towards Forochel. Dhordur knew this as he overheard one Dourhand guard talking to another one about it. He had been planning for a long time how he could escape so now he just waited for the right moment to do so. When the prisoners got their dinner he spit on the guard and threw the food on him. As he suspected the guard went angry and unlocked the cage and then dragged him out of it. As the guard was the only guard there at the moment Dhordur saw his chance, he head butted the guard hard so the guard fell to the ground lifeless. He picked up the guards one handed axe and walked away slowly, looking for any sign of any guard that heard the commotion.
Dhordur took cover behind a frozen rock as he peeked from behind it around the camp to see what way would be the easiest way out of the camp. Luckily the Dourhands had given the prisoners warm clothes as they headed for this cold place. As he peeked from behind the rock he noticed the tent he knew that was the Dourhand lords tent. He still remembered the promised he gave to the lord and also that the lord had taken his two handed axe. Dhordur was not a Dwarf that did not hold his word, how ever if he went there he probably would not be able to escape. He headed there anyway in cover of the dark and silently cut open a big enough hole in the back of it so he could sneak inside.
Once he got inside he noticed that he was behind some storage crates, so he was in cover and the lord was not inside the tent right now. A horn sounded from over by the cages, they had noticed his escape now. Then he heard steps going fast towards the tent from the entrance. He saw the lord enter the tent with Dhordur's axe in his hand, the lord took a look around and then headed for a table in the tent with some maps on. The Dourhand lord sighed a bit and took a look at the maps. A Dourhand guard came inside and said that they had not found him yet. The lord shouted at the guard to keep looking as he could not have gone far in this weather, a snowstorm was coming. The guard went out of the tent again, running off.
Dhordur slowly walked out from his cover without letting the lord to hear him. He stood there a bit as the lord looked on the maps again. He started to speak behind that lord that he was here to fulfill his promise. The lord turned around with a shocked look on his face as he glanced on Dhordur. The lord started to smile and told him that he was stupid to go there instead of fleeing and that he now would die cause of it. Dhordur smiled and pointed the axe he had at the lord, saying that he would die un honorable as he have no honor.
The lord ran towards Dhordur with the two handed axe held high in a try to hit him in the head. He quickly jumped to his side so the lord ran pass him, right into the crates. He quickly head after the lord with his axe and swiped it at the lords back, making a cut. The lord elbowed Dhordur so he fell back, but he went quickly up again. He quickly took a knife from the table next to him and threw it towards the lord. The lord managed to evade the knife and ran towards Dhordur again while he shouted that he will slay him quickly. He managed to get in a quick head butt at the lord so he stumbled backwards and dropped the two handed axe. Then he jumped quickly at the lord with the axe held high and hit him straight into his chest. The lord fell down on the ground as he spitted blood while Dhordur picked up his two handed axe now. The lord said that Dhordur never would get away alive now and that there is other times now, the Longbeards would fall. Dhordur said that Mahal awaits in his halls and will judge the lord for his betray and then he took his axe and cut it into the lord.
Now the guards had arrived just as he killed the lord and hit him in the back of his head with a mace. He woke up a few days later, back in the cage with his hands tied to the cage bars this time.
The Escape
Time passed, Dhordur did not now how long it have gone since he killed that lord. But now one of the captains had become the leader over the camp and they had traveled far now. He had heard by a guard that they now where close to the Iron Hills and that more Dourhands soon would arrive along with Goblins. He could not believe what he heard, but he knew it already that the Dourhands had been in a pact with the Goblins.
One night when they had been camped there for a few days Dhordur woke up by hearing something sneaking in the bushes near the cages. Suddenly four arrow after each other was shot out of those bushes and killed the four Dourhands guarding the cages silently. The other prisoners had awaken as well and they all were surprised. Then a green clothed hooded man sneaked out of the bushes, he searched the dead Dourhands and found a key. He unlocked the five cages that were there. It was all Dwarves that were captured. The hooded man told them to follow him silently, he lead them a little bit away from the cages in cover of bushes. He told them to stay and away his sign, when they noticed the sign they were going to run as fast as the could towards an direction he pointed out. Also once they arrived at an old shabby house near a small river they should await him. He sneaked away and the time passed.
Suddenly after some time they could notice a fire spreading in the camp. They heard Dourhands running there, trying to put it out so they guessed that it was the sign and ran at the direction he had shown. They ran and ran until they found the river and the house. They went inside it to hide until he would arrive. After another long wait he showed up and came inside the house, he took up some food for them and gave it to them.
He told them that he was a Ranger from the north but he was now hiding in the east. He said that he was going to head for Erebor now and that they could accompany him there. They were going to head out the first thing in the morning, taking hidden roads. They all went to sleep as the ranger kept an eye out for any sign of the Dourhands.
The Way Back
The Ranger woke everyone up at dawn. They got ready and head off into the woods. They followed a road that was covered with bushes, it had been an old road that not been used in a long, long time. They were heading for Erebor, the Lonely Mountain and the city of Dale. Dhordur was happy for the rescue and now he could visit his little brother and little sister again. As they traveled the Ranger talked about the troubles the Rangers had near Angmar. A new evil had awaken, the eye symbol had been seen at many places. Dhordur had seen that one several times during his imprisonment and before that as well. That hooded Necromancer had that symbol on his cloak.
A week passed and they had just set up the last camp before they would be at Erebor. The Ranger had spotted several Wargs and Goblins in the area. So he head out when the camp was set up in a safe location to track them. Several hours later he came back with a worried look on his face. Dourhands had passed by here before them and now they were camped together with the Goblins and their Wargs. They probably was going to let the Wargs track them. The Ranger decided that they should try to head for Dale by nightfall, sure the Wargs can see better then but they can also hide better then.
No one argued against it and by nightfall they head of. It took them a few hours before they could see the city of Dale. Everyone was clueless of how they should get to Dale safely. Eventually the Ranger told them to wait and hide there they were, then he set off straight out towards Dale. Time went by and eventually Dhordur could see a group heading towards them, coming from Dale. It was a group of man kind riders, when they arrived each Dwarf jumped up on the horses behind a rider each. They all headed towards Dale now, a group of wargs could be seen near the hiding spot they had, strangely they did not head after the riders.
When they arrived at the gate of Dale, the gate opened and they were let in. When Dhordur and the other Dwarves got off the horses they were greeted with a small group of Dwarves, geared up with armor from Erebor. They then followed with this group out of Dale again, heading for the gate of Erebor. Dhordur was happy to see the Lonely Mountain again as it had been far too long since he had been there. They arrived at the gate that opened on their arrival, they went inside and the gate closed behind them. Dhordur was greeted by his siblings, and he split up from the group he arrived with. His siblings helped him with new clothes and he even got a full new armor, blue colored. It was an very old armor, that had been moved down in the lines of the Stonebeards, it used to be his fathers but as he died many years ago it was Dhordur's now.
Back Home To Thorin's Hall
Dhordur sent a letter to Durin's Folk, telling them about his captivity and that he will head back now. The Ranger accompanied him back towards the Blue Mountains. When they finally arrived at Bree, the Ranger said good bye and stayed in Bree as Dhordur went on towards Thorin's Hall.
When he finally arrived he was greeted by some from the Durin's Folk and he went to his house.
