Burlnard,
Fornost was amazing! The walls, though old and crumbling now, still towered high. Indeed, much of it was still very much intact, even down to some tattered and dusty tapestries. In all my years of picking through such places, I have never before seen the like. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete an extensive search for it is not unoccupied. The place is home now to more than just a handful of orcs and wargs, rendering it a very dangerous area to paw over. Still, I was able to procure a few nice treasures before I found the need to flee.
As planned, I slipped a few worthwhile trinkets into the dwindling coffers of Trestlebridge before I made my departure from those lands. I wish that I had been able to give more but alas my personal funds begin to run low thus I am required to keep at least a small measure of my findings in order to sell elsewhere. I have little choice if I wish to continue eating!
Word has reached my ears of a land further west; Evendim. It is said to be rich with ruins and lacking in settlements. Surely this must mean that others of a similar mind to my own frequent the area, but that does not mean that they have found all there is to be uncovered in that region. After all, most treasure hunters are unskilled opportunists simply seeking to make a quick fortune. I have come across so many in my travels; corpses mostly, of men and women who believed that the possibility of one good find outweighed the risks posed by hostile creatures and their own inability to fight for their lives. I should not sneer, however, for I was no different when I first started on this course. In truth, I pity them.
Still, it does not do to dwell too much on ones good fortunes, or on the ill fortunes of others. These things have a way of reversing themselves without warning should one stare at them for too long. Onward to Evendim, then!
I shall write again when circumstance permits.
Goldie.
