Dear Hirgonui (Curugirion).
This is my report from the encounter we had yesterday with the honourable kin Durin's Folk.
I apologize I didn't share my findings with you earlier. But the road was long, and the Dwarrow folk had much information to share.
As you know I had Ellethgil, Ephendir and Hwethlenn present in my group. The journey went smoothly from Thamas Lorn northwards. The biting cold and Icy lands of the realms of Thorin did not hinder us much.
Our mounts were taken care of by Master Wili, that seemed thrilled to guard our Elven horses.
We were met and greeted by Asudrom and Tagoan, and a third dwarrow whose name I cannot pronounce. I assume it is their custom to make their guests welcome in a very polite ways, So we tasted a quite spicy beverage of which they served us.
We delivered the message you asked us to bring them. We assured them that we would answer their call for aid. Asudrom were pleased to hear the news. He also gave us some news back. They are already moving towards the camp in Noglond. Kandral and his helpers, will already set up a camp, and prepare for the assault. They seem to expect that we will move forward soon.
They were very precise about the amounts of unit they will muster, and very precise what day they will gather in Noglond. They also explained in detail what we will expect, that allies from our kind would try to join. he did not say which house or Kin that would come. But I think we will expect to see friends. They will also provide a unit that will take care of wounded, units to help out with the smithing, repairing and sharpen of weapons. They also were very precise about what to bring. Lanterns and the usual supplies for an assault. They asked us to provide the same.
They also asked us what they could expect from us, but as I did not have much detailed information that I could share I answered the best I could to please them. We did respond that we would try to muster additional banners equally to their units. They talked about 7 units and helpers. But I do not know it we can muster that many my Lord.
I also said we would move towards Noglond in nearest future. Asudrom seemed to accept the answer, even if I sensed he do not like an answer without specifics. I believe they prefer very concrete information. Perhaps if you do know more we should send a Raven with message when to move forward?
Ellethgil mentioned she would be around an aid as a healer if required. This at least made the eyes of the dwarfs twinkle a little. Ephendir seemed to be equally interested to join the assault, which also made the dwarrow folk very pleased to hear. Hwethlenn said her father could provide riders after the assault, she also mentioned the circle, but i do not know if Lhùtlinde or Cirionar would approve that the circle would be mentioned in this type of assault. I mentioned that we would not know for sure what would hide in the deepest darkness in Sarnur, ancient rituals could perhaps come handy?
But the Dwarrrow folk seemed more interested in the talk of axes, swords and attacks.
I apologize that we did not have time to ask about the sailing ships from Kheledùl. The time passed and the Dwarrow were very fixed about the Sarnur assault. So we decided not to take away focus from the upcoming assault and speak about the Sailing ships. I reckon this will be our next task perhaps?
I must admit My Lord, that this assault frightens me. I have seen the trolls before, Istuir got badly wounded once. I learned from Aearandir to aim for their eyes, to blind them. to at least give them a handicap in their brutal ways of fighting. So I will follow that advice to make sure that they cannot aim that well. The dwarrow are very motivated and told me we had nothing to fear, which gave me some assurance
Regarding to Ellethgil, Ephendir and Hwethlenn, I was glad to have them around. Perhaps you will ask for individual reports from them, in case I have forgotten to mention some important details.
We actually were invited to join their tavern afterwards.. But writing this report was more of a pressing matter for me, so we returned swiftly to bring news of how the meeting went.
Yours faithfully servant Hallothel
