The summoning of the Conin en Elenion
A letter by Fealinwë sent to the follow recipients: Eglamor, Skadis, Runarfin, Fredulf
Aiya mellyn,
it has been a long time since our last gathering. Since Gil-Galad’s passing we had a time of peace in which all of us had our tasks and all did them well. However, recent tidings have bid me to action. Amongst the eldar in Imladris there has begun a feeling of weariness growing stronger. Lord Elrond, and as I have heard Lady Galadriel, have already mentioned that our time is nearing its end. It has made me smile. Galadriel should know better than this. Haven’t we not felt like this for a long time? Nonetheless, if our presence in Endor is indeed decreasing, I foresee that Imladris and later on Lothlorien will be abandoned, and the presence in Thranduil’s Realm will grow too thin for us to conceal our quest..
Therefore we must seek shelter elsewhere. This is our first and foremost objective.
Secondly, I feel the time has come we commence a new search for Maglor. If he is still wandering in Endor, we must find him. As Maedhros is lost to us, Maglor is the only hope we have left to recover the truth about the Exile, as the feud of Losgar caused them not to reveal all they knew to those who saw the Helcaraxë. Hopefully Maglor will consider us as equals and let no grief from the past separate us from our common goal.
I therefore summon Eglamor to represent our brethren in Mirkwood and Skadis will represent Lothlorien. As Runarfin operates in Lindon, I have already sent him on the mission which we will discuss at the meeting. Ironically time is suddenly against us, and therefore I see no other way but to exclude him from our meeting. He is informed of the matters and will await your updates from Lothlorien and Mirkwood afterwards. Fredulf, our friend and ally from Rohan will also not attend the meeting for similar reasons. In their absence I will represent Lindon, Imladris and the southern lands.
Our meeting will take place on Yestarë, Fredulf: that would be on the twenty-eighth day of the month your particular clan calls Hreðmonað. We will gather on the slopes of Imlad Gelair, out of the way of the many celebrations that will keep busy those who are not with us.
You will produce a written report of all your findings so far and conceal the information using the ways of Mithrim. This will prevent possible interceptors from getting their hands on the information and assures us our quest remains hidden.
You will make four copies of these manuscripts of which you will take one with you. The other three copies are to be sent to me using three different routes across the whole of Endor.
More importantly, on the day of our meeting there must be produced twenty new copies of the same manuscripts and sent four copies to each outpost using four different routes. This will insure us all that the combined knowledge we have discovered so far is known amongst all our ranks across Endor. By direct order these manuscripts are to be memorised by all. Once the knowledge is memorised, all manuscripts must be destroyed. Not a single copy must be allowed to exist afterwards outside of Imladris.
I await our meeting underneath the stars.
High Warden Fealinwë Ho-Hísilómë
