Part #9 - Knights OF Eriador - The Battle Plains

Part #9 - Knights OF Eriador - The Battle Plains

((From this point this story is intertwined with another story - Part 1 to 8 of the Shades Of The Crebain - The Battle Plains, The Battle Of The Camp, The Dead Marshes and Emyn Muil. So if you want a full understanding of where this continues, feel free to read those Adventures of Moradar - you will there learn the story told from the Wainriders point of view - and witness the creation of the dark cult of Shades Of The Crebain))

Arangilas puts the huge book on the table, then lights a candle to have more light for reading.
He had just arrived from Rivendell - where he had retrieved some of his fathers old books and accounts of the knighthoods deeds through time.
The book is imbued with leather coloured red, and on the front cover there are four triangles outlined in gold - making one larger triangle.
The middle one is upside down and coloured black

This particular book had become more and more important to the order of knights...
Especially after the latest events.

Three knights now missing... Could they all be related?

The order had now grown in numbers.
The parchment he had gotten from his old friend, listing a good number of names, had proven to hold its promise.
Many good people who served the lands just as any of the brothers and sisters of the order.
Many had been summoned - many had joined.

Arangilas had meant to travel to Rivendell at once when he found this insignia, but the arrival of a few new recruits to the order had halted him.
And before he knew it, weeks had passed - and the Insignia was forgotten.
They had now relocated, and rebuild their home, which they called "The Shelter"

One of the new amongst the order was Briarwen - a promising warrior and daughter of the knight called Greyhound, his fathers old and most trusted friend who had fallen as he was protecting Eldonaar Bloodrage. It was Briarwen who had first learned news of the possibility of a direct threat to the order.
She had called it the Shades Of the Crebain...

At first the name had not ringed a bell in Arangilas mind...
But now - a good few days later, he had opened a drawer in search of a scroll at his house - and found the insignia lying there amongst the scrolls.

Here Arangilas now sat - crouched over this old dusty book his father once had written - searching the pages for a drawing of a crow-like creature clutching a dagger...
Hoping it would hold some clue or account of a former encounter - and that they be the same as Briarwen had gotten word of.

He knew he had seen it many times a child, and as a young man - as he would look through the books to admire his fathers wonderful drawings...

He turns a page, and he almost freezes as his eyes falls on a drawing - exactly resembling the insignia in his hand...

Arangilas inspects the page, and has to turn a few pages back to find the beginning of the account...

Arangilas reads:

"The Easterling outfall on Gondor - and the order of the Knights Of Eriador's partition in the defence of Gondor"

- Pelargir TA 1944:
After the defeat and death of King Narmacil II, and the Victory of his son and heir, King Calimehtar in the year of TA 1856 - on the great battle fields of Dagorlad - We, the Knights Of Eriador decided to humbly offer our aid to the King of Gondor in the defence of the lands.

On King Calimehtar's deathbed in TA 1936, we renewed our wows to his son and heir to the Gondorian Kingdom. Prince Ondoher of Gondor accepted our offer, and our friendship with the Gondors continued. Ondoher was crowned king of Gondor shortly after.

In TA 1944 King Ondoher was preparing for battle. The Easterlings had rejoined forces.
The Wainriders of Rhûn and Variags of Khand threatened the north, and the Haradrim of Near and Far Harad threatened the south.

King Ondoher devided up his armed forces to counter both assaults.
The northern army was led by the King himself and his son and heir to the throne, Artamir.
The left wing of King Ondoher's forces was led by Adrahil I - Prince of Dol Amroth.
The Right wing was led by the Kings sister-son, Minothar.

Our knighthood was asked to join with Eärnil II, captain of the Gondors southern army.
Our main objective was to safeguard the great port of Pelargir.

Not long after our arrival at Pelargir, Captain Eärnil II got word of vast forces of Haradrim moving towards South Ithilien.
He decided to rush forward to try to halt their assault.
We were asked to follow the captain to battle. -
