Odall
Odall, the 'Gaffer' Brackenboar
| Name | Odall |
|---|---|
| Occupation | Gaffer (Captain) of the Bree Town Watch |
| Age | Fiftieth winter |
| Race | Man |
|---|---|
| Residence | Bree Hill |
| Kinship |
| Outward Appearance | A bald, mutton-chopped, stiff-postured gaffer. His manner of speech is rustic but learned, yet there is no haughtiness that would befit a lord or one of privilege. He wears the trappings of a Watchman well, and stands proud and broad-shouldered (a trait of all Brackenboars), if not necessarily tall; but when the last bell chimes, he wears the common linens of any Bree-man retiring to the tavern of the Prancing Pony. Indeed he has a dry warmth to his overall demeanor; everything from his calloused knuckles, to his leathery lines of care; but they are matched only by the coldness of his detachment, and the bluntness of his deadpan humour. |

Background
'These (Dunlendings) were a remnant of the peoples that had dwelt in the vales of the White Mountains in ages past. But in the Dark Years others had removed to the southern dales of the Misty Mountains; and thence some had passed into the empty lands as far north as the Barrow-downs. From them came the Men of Bree; but long before these had become subjects of the North Kingdom of Arnor....' J.R.R. Tolkien.
