When I awoke the sky was dark

Upon the Sea of Helcar’s bay

But set in the sky was starlight bright

That helped to light my way

In those days I was a travelling bard

Who penned Songs for the stars

I pledged no troth to lord or king, nor

heeded tidings near or far

And when the Moon rose I was transfixed

And pursued it into the East

And would fain lay my hands on it 

Or draw close to it, at least!

And e’en now in the dark of night

When I play what songs I will

I look and gaze upon the Moon

For it enchants me still

Once considered near equal to the likes of Daeron and Maglor in minstrelsy in the First Age, now kin leader of the Minstrels of Middle Earth in the Third Age
