| Outward Appearance | She is rather tall for a woman, almost 5'10". Her brown hair is pulled back severely and kept in a low bun. Her smile is cautious, but freely given to those who acknowledge her. Her eyes are green, but seem dark and cloudy with sadness. Her age is hard to pin down, though her tanned skin begins to wrinkle around her eyes and her hands are very calloused from long hard years of working. Her dress is unimpressive, worn around elbows and knees. She is neat, however, keeping tidy under all circumstances. She is seen with a long bow at all times. A gift from a new friend and cherished greatly. There is a remarkable very small golden ring hanging from a piece of rough twine around her neck, usually kept hidden in the folds of her dress. |

Background
At a young age, Ruid was married to her sweetheart, Ewyn in her tiny village. He showed her how to hunt using his family bow, something she excelled at fairly quickly. At dawn's break, they would both head out, one to the fields, one to the woods. They were exceedingly happy and soon welcomed a son, Etryn, into their lives. It was a peaceful life filled with laughter, warmth and harmony.
During Etryn's 11th year, father and son were practicing bow skills in the early evening. Ruidhrond was busy at the homestead preparing the evening meal, but kept a watchful eye on the wood's edge where her men were training. Within a blink of an eye, a small group of men ambushed father and son, quickly dispatching them and leaving them bleeding on the ground. When Ruid looked up, she only saw her men on the ground, and one tall and thin thief with Ewyn's bow on his back. She raced to them, but was too late.
After a proper funeral service, she saw no reason to stay. She packed her meager belongings and set out to reclaim the bow and see justice done to the murderer.
She has traveled many years - Eregion, Forochel, North Downs and Bree, among other lands. It is in Bree where she meets an odd group of strangers, hobbits, dwarves and elves. They encourage her to keep searching for both the bow and the murderer. She is given a new bow and a new lease on life. It is with this band of new friends she finds herself now.
