The second child of Narwanerdo (red-haired strong man), a builder and a hunter of the Noldor, and his wife Meldanis Aralisse (beloved woman; noble-grace), a Vanya who was gifted in the art of singing. In Aman, in 1463 YT, she was born and she was named Aralissiel (daughter of noble-grace) and her older brother, who came into the world in 1426 YT, was Narwanerion for he resembled his father in both body and heart. Her brother loved her very much and she was really fond of him. In the beginning they seemed very different for Narwanerion was restless and seeked the thrill of adventures, while Aralissiel was pleased with the comfort of home and found delight in learning and often found herself in the presence of artists that were her mother’s friends, therefore she grew to admire art in all its forms. But they liked spending time together. Her brother taught her how to ride and they would ride all day through various landscapes. They were each other’s best counselor for they saw the world in another perspective, and from their argues both learned much.

Meldanis observed her daughter’s protective nature over the things she liked, willing to preserve them, and she saw her kindness and care for those whom she loves. Thus, the mother-name she gave her was Varyalle (=protector), which Aralissiel adopted as her chosen-name.
