Faemenel was born in Eregion, during the year 1419 of the Second Age. She is the youngest child of Turgondo and Mallothiel, and is the sister of Faerduin and Aglarato. Although her brothers were apprenticed to their father, learning his trade, she was brought up by her mother as a healer.

After the destruction of her homeland (1695), Faemenel escaped along with her family as they made for the Valley of Imladris, a haven built by Elrond Half-Elven. Yet Sauron the Deceiver soon sent an army to besiege Imladris for the next three years. During this time, Faemenel lent her healing skills to the wounded soldiers, and in doing so, played a larger part in fending off the encroaching horde than either of her siblings.

Until, in the year 1700, the Numenorean King sent forth a large fleet that arrived at Lindon, and defeated the Dark Lord's forces at "The Battle of the Gwathlo". As a result, the enemies surrounding Rivendell were utterly destroyed by Elrond and the High King Gil-Galad. With Imladris free from terror, Turgondo decreed that he and his children would remain there for a time.

Faemenel and her family dwelled in peace for many long centuries. Yet, in the year 3429 of the Second Age, the King Erenion Gil-Galad led a host of Men and Elves into the Valley to rest and further plan an assault upon Mordor. Aglarato, whom up until now had served as a page to the Master Elrond, joined under Erenion's command, and was slain in the ensuing battles. Faemenel and her family were greatly grieved to learn of his death. They traveled away from Rivendell, and settled in Lindon for much of the Third Age. Though Faerduin later left to aid in keeping safe the road to Imladris, Faemenel remained to comfort her still mourning parents.
