Dear Diary,
I have decided to continue with the Dwarves to Moria. The temptation of finding new music is even greater than the call of The Shire.
I have added all of my coin to the coffers to buy supplies for the long journey into the mine. We are to buy supplies to last for a month. By then we should have collected enough trinkets and riches to pay for at least another six months if we want to stay.
I will have to stable Harmony with the Dwarves at the entrance to the mine, the deep halls are dark and the footing is too uneven for her to travel. It will be a shame to leave her behind, but Floppett is from mine stead stock, headstrong and sure footed even in the darkest places.
I have been assured that the Dwarves first into Moria have already cleared the goblins out and all that is left are the skittering things that feed on the filth gobbos behind. Our job will be to search the forgotten rooms and galleries to make sure even the skittering things are chased out so that the mine can be reopened again. Dwarves from all over Arda are going to want to live and work there.
The benefits of doing the job are, we get to keep any treasures we find and we can also secure a place in the mine when it opens.
Obviously the last one isn't for me, but there are treasures that hold value to me more than gold or even Mithril. I hope to find music. a rich mine like Moria would have had minstrels and performers and I know the Dwarves are by nature record keepers, so it stands to reason they would have written the music down somewhere. I intend to find it.
So a delay in returning to The Shire, but I think this will be my most profitable one.
