Remember when the Sickness came
To Cardolan, my lord.
They could not quell this unseen foe
By fire nor by sword.
Ambition drove old Cardolan
And pride sat at its helm;
When worn by war 'gainst their own kin
She struck the riven realm.
The strong, the frail, the rich, the poor-
She devastated all;
And none did stand by Cardolan.
Abandoned did they fall.
Such folly borne of arrogance
Haunts every heart, my king.
Such folly, sat upon a throne
All misery will bring.
