Confusion

She worked in the kitchen, preparing blueberry muffins. She had ordered a lot of blueberries recently and had already brewed blueberry ale. As she worked, the teasing questions of her boss, and friend, echoed in her mind.

"Do I sense something more than friendship?"

Due to her Nurnhoth blood, Eira's skin was naturally a deathly pale. Yet, her cheeks noticably had color as she allowed the muffins to cool.

No. No, she had no feelings for that man! Did she? Well, she had always had her eyes on him since she learned he was the same as her: a former servant of the Enemy. Then, she had been worried sick over his injuries. He had soothed her when she lamented her survivor's guilt. Recently, they had walked from the Prancing Pony to the Huntsman and Stag together. They had shared some nice times evading drunk sailors and relishing in their common sweet tooth.

"I should take this tea to my room. I'm exhausted."

"Good idea, I think I'll join you. - Wait, I meant I should also go to sleep in my own room. And stop putting my foot in my mouth."

Eira felt hot, especially in her face. She hoped it was just the oven and fireplace as she turned with a platter of fresh blueberry muffins to the doorway. It was at the doorway that she heard Demlemoth and Egfor talking to a very familiar person...

His voice sounded almost hopefull. It made her chest lighter than normal, "Is Eira here?"

Eira hesitated at the door. It was him! Nimraph! She gave her head a shake and walked out with the platter. Playing it cool, she was reserved, "Oh. Hello. Do you need anything?"

No, no, she did not have feelings for Nimraph. Not when Ris had shown her how complicated love was. Not when her father had loved his slave, apparently after having a wife. No, no, romance was the last thing she needed right now. Not with so much confusion buzzing in her head already. As she placed the platter down, Nimraph leaned in a bit too close for one, talking about he had never had blueberries before. Eira then noticed that he was wearing a dark, elaborate robe of burgundy. It was... nice.

Her heart pounded as she shoved the platter closer to Nimraph, to keep him back a little bit. She found herself rambling on the health benefits of blueberries, only to blush once again when he proclaimed her blueberry muffins were the best things he had ever tasted.
