Background
Gwaiherond (Q “windy cave”, Cilmesse) Caranarben (S "red warrior", Epesse) was begotten in FA 494 at Nargothrond, only months before the unexpected Battle of Tumhalad, where his father fell. In the aftermath of that massacre, before the city was completely ravaged by Glaurung the dragon, he was found whining besides his dead mother in a passage by one of the fleeing inhabitants. Taking the child with him, and together with a few other refugees, they managed to reach the settlement at the mouths of Sirion, and then the Isle of Balar, where young Gil Galad, Orodreth’s heir, dwelled with Cirdan.
Gwaiherond was thus raised in Balar, among and by the little community of Nargothrond refugees who followed the soon-to-be High King of the Noldor, and who later established in Forlindon.
An orphan of unknown parents, surrounded by sorrow and melancholy, Gwaiherond grew to be a grim, introspected elf, easy to overlook but for his dark golden hair. Soon however he revealed excellent military skills, and kept escalating the ranks of the High King’s army, until commanding his own company during the battles of the Last Alliance.
After the fall of Gil Galad, which left him leaderless, Gwaiherond returned to Lindon, where he has dwelled for the whole of the Third Age, occasionally lending his sword to the Master of the Havens.
