Tedso 'Ted' Twofoot

| Kinship | The Twofoot Family. |
| Outward Appearance | "As for the Hobbits of the Shire, with whom these tales are concerned, in the days of their peace and prosperity they were a merry folk. They dressed in bright colours, being notably fond of yellow and green; but they seldom wore shoes, since their feet had tough leathery soles and were clad in a thick curling hair, much like the hair of their heads, which was commonly brown. Thus, the only craft little practised among them was shoe-making; but they had long and skilful fingers and could make many other useful and comely things. Their faces were as a rule good-natured rather than beautiful, broad, bright-eyed, red-cheeked, with mouths apt to laughter, and to eating and drinking. And laugh they did, and eat, and drink, often and heartily, being fond of simple jests at all times, and of six meals a day (when they could get them). They were hospitable and delighted in parties, and in presents, which they gave away freely and eagerly accepted." - The Hobbit, Chapter 1 - An Unexpected Party
Tedso Twofoot is no exception from any other Hobbit of the Shire. His thick hair on his head now has turned a misty grey from his old age, though the hair on his feet is still thick and tough. A warm merry smile can often be found on his cheeks, not as round as they were in his youth and now lines of age adorn his skin where freckles once lay. Often between his lips can be found one of many well-carved pipes, clouds of pipe-weed are often the first sign of his arrival with nearly perfect smoke rings if the young ones are demanding it. A well rounded stomach shows his love of each meal he gets, though it is hard to tell whether it is from the food he eats or the beers he drinks. His well worked hands are now getting stiffer and slower with age, though still he potters along each day on his prized garden, and whatever else comes his way. Red and greens fill his wardrobe. Though he is mostly seen wearing his patched shirt and straw hat when he is weeding or watering, he is also known to clean up smartly when the occasion calls for it. An old top hat that he received as a gift many years ago is well kept and often worn on his head when needed, with a pheasant feathered quill tucked in the band. Now in his older years, he has taken pleasure in writing, so it is not rare to see him as he strolls about with a book under his arm -- though he'll never tell what's in it, not until it's finished! |

Background
The Twofoot Family had been a well known family in Hobbiton for many years, and Tedso Twoofoot had given his best to keep the family name of high esteem. He grew up in the small town, often running around and climbing the trees in the Appledores and even splashing his feet in the river sometimes! Often he would be with his cousin, known now as Daddy Twofoot, who lives in 2 Bagshot Row between Bag End and Gaffer Gamgee.
Though that was many years ago now, and when he came of age and found himself some honest work, he joined the Quick Post and was soon a well known face around the Shire, always friendly and courteous in his deliveries and letters -- and never able to decline some tea and cake. As the years went by, he remained as a Post Hobbit until one day a surprise came along in the post. A letter from the Mayor himself, and how Ted had been offered the role of Post Master!
So with his belongings packed and with a heavy heart, he left the town of Hobbiton for some time, and moved to Michel Delving where his office was located. He became fast friends with the Mayor and the First Shirrif, and the good name of Ted Twofoot was spread even further across the Four Farthings.
It was in Michel Delving he met his dear wife, and it was not long until another hard decision was given to him. After serving near to a decade as the Post Master of the Shire, eventually he decided to return to just a member of the Quick Post as him and his wife moved back to Hobbiton where they started their family. Soon enough, each room in the burrow was filled with children, though as the years flew by and they began to leave, and the heaviness of old age took their place. He retired from the Quick Post, after a proud sixty years of service! Though even now he cannot resist stopping into the post offices, often spending the whole day there as merry as can be.
Now his pride and joy is his garden, which blooms each year in wonderful flowers and with prize-winning vegetables. When not found in his garden, or in his burrow or the post offices, he can often be found down by the lake fishing the afternoon away, and most evenings he can be found by the hearthside in the Ivy Bush or the Green Dragon, with his cousin Daddy Twofoot, and good friend the Gaffer Gamgee.
| Friends | Many all over the Shire know Ted well from his time at the Quick Post, and the many nights he spends in the Inns. |
|---|---|
| Relatives | Too many to name in one place; though him and his wife have many children and grandchildren spread out across the Fourfarthings by now. |
| Rivals/Enemies | Gnats, Slugs and other critters that try to eat his flowers. |
| Loves | Every meal that is served to him, fishing by the lake, a good bitter or ale, his best smoking pipe and most of all his garden. |
|---|---|
| Hates | Very little, though anything that threatens his garden could come close, ranging from slugs to a cold frost. |
| Motivation | To keep his garden bright and to enjoy his golden years. |
| Quotes | "Why hullo there, do come in and join us for tea! I've been meaning to show you my garden!" |
