It has become too much. First stalking me through Bree, bothering me when I am alone and saying ridiculous things, now sending other people to do it for him!
He nearly succeeded as well, that Anarr person. He tried using my compassionate nature, and my friends, against me. It was only blind luck that had Haldrid pass by only moments before I was to leave town with the man, exposing his lie utterly.
Even then I was given no peace! The man came back later, demanding that I go with him, saying that I belong to the elf. Hah! I belong to none but myself and no arrogant, delusional knife-eared buffoon is going to change that!
A fight ensued when Davick found us. Even blinded, my wolf is more capable than most men! Anarr quickly found himself on the wrong end of my guardian's temper and, after spouting a strange tale about his employer, managed to escape.
I would have hoped that would be the end of it, but no. That dratted shudder-worthy creation turned up yet again! When I was alone, no less - how does he always know?
We spoke briefly before I ran for my life, and he revealed his plans. He is insane! Handing me over to the mythical Witch King of Angmar so that I would bear half-orc babies? What manner of derranged mind would come up with that, never mind expect me to willingly participate? But that is the point, is it not? He cares little if I am willing or not as long as he gets what he wants.
I am not even fully convinced that this is the truth, but I refuse to take that risk. I fled Bree that very night, after sending a series of letters. My mother and I travel homewards now. I had planned to make this journey in a few weeks time but I fear that putting it off further would bring dire consequences. I can only hope that we reach our destination before he finds out which direction we took.
I also hope that one of the others tells my wolf where I have gone. In his current condition he cannot read, and nor can Marinette read to him, so sending a letter to him was pointless. Still, he told me that he plans to make his way to my homelands soon, with her as his escort, so I hope that I will see him amongst the tents in due time. I just do not want him to worry about my disappearance.
The others, Haldrid, Flannery, Blodwynn and Baradar, as well as Seaver, have all been told what they need to know. I said my goodbyes as best I could in those missives and a part of me fears that it may be the last they hear from me. I would dearly love to see them all again one day, and I intend to, but I cannot help but think that the elf or his cronies will catch me, or that Bree will never again be safe for me. He is immortal, more or less, he could await my return for decades and never fear of dying from age before I come back.
The only thing working in my favour at this time, I think, is that he knows not enough about me to realise from where retribution would come. That and, once I am in Aughaire, I will be safe. I may be no cheiftains daughter or wise-woman, but I know my people would do all in their power to prevent one of their own from being snatched away in the night. I will be safe there. In Angmar, I will be safe.
