Dear Gaeded,
I have read your letter and I have contemplated over the matter despite knowing what the answer will be write away.
I have to admit, your proposal is an honour to me by all aspects, I am no Lord in any way, certainly no King and most importantly not a Horse-lord lord which would be the most suitable in this case. I am just a simple man from Bree, born next to the Beggar's Alley, I think that none of those lords would approve you swearing an oath to me, an oath of allegiance and loyalty to someone from Bree. A disgrace one of them would say.
But, after spending many years in Bree, after seeing many of those so-called lords and captains, from Rohan and other places, seeing how many of them fled their home and came up here for reasons unknown, I dare to say that I am better than them, first of all because I dared ride into battle without fear, without the fear that drove them away from their land. But let's not get away from the matter.
You have been in the company for quite a while now, you've proven yourself in battle and friendship. Despite your young age you came up here and are s till trying to make your dream come true. And who am I to deny you that right? Nobody! But I can grant you it, not because I am someone, for certainly I am not, but because I believe that I will treat you fair and kindly, as you deserve, I will protect you when I must and I will send you into battle when I must, as the leader of this company.
I accept that you become my shieldmaiden with great honour, despite knowing that I have not right or authority for such a thing. Come and meet me at the office to speak about it thoroughly.
With honour,
Fiontann
