Background

As a child, Lubiella was a dreamy hobbit. She was less interested in learning about cooking and how to eventually attract a good husband than in listening to any of Bilbo's old stories. Also, she was a rather stubborn hobbit and growing up with only brothers, she did not turn out to be the sweet little girl her mother had hoped. Instead Lubiella climbed trees, hills, pigs and everything else she could find to play with. She would also show amazing abilities when it came to basic manipulation of her brothers into doing stupid things... like climbing pigs and cows. Basically, she was a little bit of a brat and basically she still is. Lubiella was travelling towards Archet to visit her brother, Adalbo's, fiancée when the attack came, and while she was not personally affected, her brother lost his fiancée, Tumbleberry. Lubiella was quite a bit scared that anything so violent would happen close to her home, and furthermore she was outraged that the Shire seemed indifferent, almost passive about the whole thing. Lubiella attempted to make all of her five brothers join the bounders as a response to this evil of mean men that would surely find its way to the Shire eventually, but only Adalbo seemed willing. Lubiella's mom, whose temper is much like her daughters, however, soon had Adalbo thinking other thoughts and working on a farm far away from his sister near Needlehole. Lubiella was heart broken and during a conversation about how Lubiella should be worrying more about why she hadn't had a boyfriend yet and not so much of the trouble of Men, she ran off. She joined the bounders for a short while, but the news of a female bounder soon created so much controversy that her position there would not work out. If people thought she was angry and stubborn before, this did not help. So, Lubiella left the Shire with no intention of coming back. She would go out and show the world that at least one hobbit was willing to do her part. And yet she found mostly ridicule in her attempts to help out. Her stubborn will did not really help her much if she had to fight someone twice her size. Naturally, she would not resign and go home to mom and so she left for Trestlebridge to volunteer there with no more success until she met an elf who was working as a scout there and gladly accepted Lubiella's help. This elf is named Nimuviel and remains her best friend today. At the time, Lubiella could find no better compliment than to be accepted into the service of an elf! Had Lubiella known anything about elves at the time, she might have realised that Nimuviel knew only little more of war than Lubiella did and only accepted the hobbit out of youthful courage and ignorance. Eventually Lubiella did prove her worth, though, as a scout. She turned out to be very efficient, hard to find, willing to take on any task and stubborn as only a dwarf would otherwise be when it came to completing it. From here on the story of Lubiella becomes a bit more vague. She seems to have served as a scout several places and it appears that she has been used by both elves and dwarves over the last periods of time, but those things are hard to verify. She sure travels a lot at least and somehow she has made enough gold to buy her own house with a windmill on it in the South Farthing. She visits elves more than hobbits, which annoys Lubiella's mother to no end, but Lubiella has become even more independent than before. She also remains stubbornly unwilling to marry, but at least he mom can boast that her daughter is rich.
