Ulfban, a huntress from Bree land has fallen in love with the Elf maid Hethan. When she took the straight road and gave up her mortal coil Ulfban went mad with grief. Denying the truth she knows, she blamed the death of her beloved on the Elven hunter Zargodon and vowed to hunt and scourge him forever more.
Into the hole of grief she opened up in her soul has fallen a dark and ancient spirit from Angmar. As her own spirit and the dark one struggle for control they are slowly melding into a terrible new creature that calls itself Ulf Mutter whose sworn goal is the eradication of the Eldar from Middle Earth. Calling her children to her Ulf Mutter heads north from Breeland into Angmar to hunt Zargodon and those who travel with him.
But a friend, the Elven Huntress Ramield, follows Ulfban into darkness, hoping that she can somehow reach her through the mask of grief and madness that now covers her. Desperately striving to save a friend who may not want to be saved...
