Life is good

The autumn wind, with its biting chill that came with the season, worked its way down the collar and up the sleeves of Hutwig as he lay on the blanket outstretched on Combe Hill over looking the sleepy town that was moving with its usual dull bustle on a day that was not market-day.

Twig's brown eyes move from the town, moving over towards the woman that lay besides him on the blanket. Ysopa, his fiancé, lay gazing up at the clouds, her freckled face folded in a smile. Her short hair fanned out across the ground in a honey brown halo around her head. Looking down to his own finger, and to the iron-band around there, he thought of how quick it all happened. Starting with a simple chat about marriage, ended up with them being engaged right there in the Comb and Wattle after a chicken roll.

Already, even after just under three weeks of being betrothed to her, they have already decided on a date of the wedding, how many children there will eventually be, their names and all. He even met her family..

The Rumseys, a bunch from Trestlebridge, who numbered six all together; Fye, Baut, Baynard, Ysopa, and Maudey. An odd bunch he first thought, though as he fell more and more for Ysopa, he took much more of a liking to them. Now, looking forward to the day when they are officially family to him. Along with them soon to be his family, work was also brought his way by them! Baut, who works up at Thornley's Worksite, had said he'd ask if there was room for Twig to join too.

Life is good indeed, thought Twig as he lay his hand ontop of Ysopa's.
