Wyrm Hunt

Langhund raised up and down in the saddle as Hrimfell, donned in armour of leather and chain with pouches and satchels upon his back along with his rider, trotted swiftly down the dirt path. A glimpse of light came to the hunter's eye, as he spotted a fire near a tree followed with tents falling into his view next. He rode forth, sending a hail as he called out. "Westhu!"

Régnwald sat the edge of his blade near his right stirrup, the point then reaching toward the fire like a lone mettallic tooth raised to bite into the meat that the flames might offer. He spared a glance over towards the approaching horseman, raising a hand clad in leather and chain ''Westhu hal!''

Langhund would raise his spear up, point in the air with blood fresh upon the tip. "A fine day for a hunt, ja?"

Régnwald edged a few paces away from the camp as the other men rose tall after him. He slowed his long strides to a halt beside the horseman, giving a pat to his stallion's neck lightly and spoke in his usual stoic self, yet still his eyes would reveal a small glow of concern ''What brings you here Langhund, no ill news from Stangard I trust?'' he assumed expectantly, eyeing him a beat.

Langhund spoke, ''Nay, none too ill as of yet. I have been wyrm hunting. Word came to my ears that some were going too close to some of the farmsteads.''

Régnwald arched a slight, golden eyebrow yet he wouldn't add the words of his own rapidly. He nodded then rolled his shoulders with a breath ''I see,'' he then motioned his head towards the men, gestured them to prepare. ''We hope to return to burgh before the sun sets. Though I might join your hunt if you'll head on, eh?'' another brow was lifted with his question.

Langhund said, ''If you have a spear and your horse can take a blow from a wyrms tale, feel free to come along.'' He grinned towards him as he patted the armour upon Hrimfell, the purpose of it to stop any hits coming to him.

Régnwald cracked a small grin then gave a last, small pat to the eorling's horse before heading to his own steed. ''Hondscioh,'' he called after another man of crimson hair ''You ride ahead and return to Stangard.'' His order would be answered with a firm nod by the slim, short man before he retired swiftly. Régnwald leaped on his steed and checked the reins for a moment while Gramlic gave a light whinny.

Langhund raised a brow at the name as he looked towards the man before he shook his head slightly with a hidden grin. He looked towards Régnwald, "Ready?". His spear rose up to a ready posistion, as his heels dug slightly into Hrimfell's flank to start him off slowly.

Régnwald urged Gramlic ahead beside Langhund. The horse pawed and stomped in the grass for a moment impatiently as he sat silently, watching the hills a beat. ''Tis a good landscape,'' he commented lowly, pulling the bridles to himself a little.

Langhund said, ''Ja.. a shame that most men and women are always in town.'' Langhund grinned towards him, before he headed off, taking his horse off the path onto the fields.

Régnwald kicked the side of his horse and rode onward with a firm grip of the reins.

Langhund pulled Hrimfell to a stop besides a carcass of a wyrm, with blood staining its scaly hide with a broken spear in its gut. Hund grinned proudly, "Took this one down at dawn!"

Régnwald slowed his horse to a halt as he saw a farm which was the same one from which sperewigend Aodhred had rescued the boy in their long journey. He heaved his shoulders and gazed ahead, catching Langhund's glance then looked over towards where he pointed. ''Filthy worms.'' he swore under his thick beard. ''There is more I trust... Hund.''

Langhund spoke, ''The farmer reported four all together, though the tracks say five. I have killed one, as has the farmer, so three remain lurking around.''

Régnwald comforted Gramlic with a slight flick of the bridles. ''Aye... Gramlic scents them. They're here.'' he agreed with a quick nod, eyes wandering in the pale distance.

Langhund said, ''Then let us not keep them waiting!'' He grinned as he urged Hrimfell to pick up some speed as he rode in simple circles, as he tried to find a target.
