A Firey Evening

Jessie felt sweat beading up on her forehead as she worked.  Water boiled and steam swirled through the smoke filled air.  She grinned to herself as she lifted up the large, heavy sack and poured the vegetables into the cast iron pot.  She then rolled up the sleeves of her brown dress and awaited.  The stew cooked, the smell of vegetables and meat mixed with smoke that filled the air.  Once the stew finished, she removed the pot and set it down to fill up bowls on the ground.  The fire burned in the warm evening air and her friends, all dogs, began to scarf down their bowls along with Jessie.  She felt satisfaction from her job well down as the savory flavor of her stew soaked into her tongue.  The fire burned well into the night through the sunset and under the stars.  A peaceful night indeed.
