It has been long since Deorgast had seen his friends. About a year ago, he dedicated his bowmanship to the art of hunting, and left his life as a sellsword, as he decided he was not fit to be one. However, he missed every single one of his companions, and he held them dearly in his honest heart. If only he knew they still live and are well, he'd be quite satisfied with his life...
For the past few months Deorgast decided to take his dear horse and friend, Grimme, to travel with him south, crossing the Gap of Rohan, using only his skills as a wildsman to survive. This is what Deor was most fit to do. Furthermore, he heard about war in the south, so he had to see his home again, even if this meant he'd only see it before his death, be it by the terrible foes Rohan was to face, or the Rohirrim themselves, who over the past years had despised him so much.
Being one of the best trackers around (and not slow to brag about it), Deor managed to get to Stangard without being detected. Upon getting there, he was immediately put in a cell and striped of all he had, for the "crimes" he had committed in the view of his kinsman. Finally, he ended up accepting his faith, but not without requesting an audience with the Thane himself. And as the new Thane was not a vicious, cruel old man as the past one was, he accepted it, and respectfully listened to Deor's story. He was very interested in what "The Swiftly" had to say, and marveled to a point, so finally he decided to clean Deor of all the accusations against him, and promised him that the bounty on his head would be removed immediately.
For once, Deorgast, or "The Swiflty", as his friends used to call him, was a free man, with less a thing to care about. The endless roamer could now ride against the winds on the plains he so much loved and missed.
However, he could never forget his friend back in Bree, and wished he could see them again...
