The night of the first guild meeting, I was assigned a mentor, he is training me to Dance... and Fish more efficiently. At first sight, I wasn't sure what to think of him... He wore a white mask, covering his face... but, he seemed different from the others for some reason. I cannot quite put my finger on it. Perhaps it was from him showing the device to everyone or the fact he asked If I would like for him to me my mentor or not. Whatever it was, I wasn't afraid of him... like the others. His name is Tarthanir but everyone calls him Ext. link: “Tarthanir” for short.
He did go upstairs when the man was shot by the hunter... come to find out he was the one who stabilized the man, which seem also different from the others. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now as I reflect on recent events he seems to have some kind of code of honor. There was something that has happened... and out of respect for the dead I will not describe the scene. He did some kind of gesture with his sword when Hawk approached us... carrying his beloved. It seemed very respectful, though I did not know the meaning or origins behind it. Lessons were canceled that day due to the events that had transpired.
The next day, I got a letter to meet him at the Pony for Fishing lessons, which were brief, as we were going to practice when the sun went down. We headed out of the Pony where we continued our Dancing lessons. The night before, I had been given a job to acquire someone's family heirloom out of a tomb, which I found out was riddled with spiders. So, I had plenty of practice putting my dancing skills to use while I was knitting for the night, but I am getting off topic...
We went outside of the Pony, behind the stables to Dance. Which he proceeded to tell me that today's lessons were going to not be as slow as they were two days before. I improved so much! I amazed myself even! We had out blades locked, At the time I was still using a dagger and a blade, which I do not like it seems to throw me off balance... As I was saying we had our blades locked, then he threw a cheap shot at me! And kicked me in the knee and hit me with the hilt of his sword. As I was down on resting my dagger hand on my knee, and bracing myself on the ground with my sword hand, he explained why he did so. After he explained... I threw dirt in his face from my sword hand, scrambled to my feet, Kicking him in the hip while he was recovering from the dirt, then went to strike quickly with both my blades. He was able to recover in time to defend himself, I backed away slightly knowing I needed to recover from such a brazen attack. I was ready to defend myself slightly shifting my weight on my feet, he used this to his advantage it seemed and I learned when I need to retreat rather then continue an attack.
I truly do like my mentor, He never scolds me, or tries to make me feel bad for making mistakes. And I can see myself getting so much better at Dancing it is unreal! There's no way I would have done so great if it weren't for him.
