Beaten, shamed, humiliated, manipulated, threatened, tortured.
So much has happened, yet somehow, she could hardly distinguish the events.
It's been a long time since she's really talked to one of her friends--maybe not horribly long, but enough time and events between that she can't remember when she last felt safe and happy. At this point, she knows that resuming a normal life is impossible--that she'd never be able to sit down and relax again.
The burns upon her back spoke that well enough.
She woke beside a river outside of Bree. The city had lost all feelings of comfort.
She didn't have the energy to even wash herself in the river after waking; she'd never feel clean again.
She wanted to tear her insides out and burn them.
The only way she could protect her friends was by betraying them, though even the act of giving up would harm those she loved.
Perhaps, perhaps...It'd be just best to care for no one. Perhaps only then would she finally be allowed to die.
But who was she kidding?
Zurich had never had the luck to allow her death. It'd be too easy if life would let that happen to her.
