almost home

Wine were being a bit odd last night. Him and me, Gyth an' Bawde stayed at the Combe yestereve. beer aint much better than before, mind you. Felt like i was back home at one point ... this man comes in all quiet, thought he were deaf for a while cos he wouldn't say much. then he ups and starts talkin' ... eorl's titties! He was a bloomin' mearc's man! Lucky an' all that he did start talkin' cos I had m' best dice out and was ready to fleece the bloody wealas iffen he'd been daft enough ter play with me. then these other two walk in, old man, not old like the giffer, but... seen things by the looks o him, nearly as old as my Da... and he brings this lass with him, Aiobhe. She swore she aint his lass but they'm pretty close i wager. I gets him to buy us all an ale when he opens his mouth and sounds like my bloody uncle. I dursn't think he's one of my uncles... feh. maybe I should ask him... So we ends the night with seven good folk in this inn, stuck up north. heh. This lass, now, she says she can use a blade... be good ter have a lass with a sense o' humour around... but this Ralwulf sears she can. feh... that will be a good evening's entertainment, seeing a lass with a sword! him though... I liked him, even if he's old enough ter be my uncle. and the other one, quiet he was. a bit of a thinker, smiled though. dursent know how he ended up here. says he's a farmer. Feh... bawde will have to teach him a sword quick iffen he's going to survive to get home!
