Keeping a promise, part 7

In the late afternoon we finally reached Aldburg, the thane led Leyda to the meadhal, but I had no wish to join them. Harred and I went to the tavern instead with the rest of our men. Harred grinned as he looked up on me.
“Bloody mess ey-today my lord.”
I could not help but grin, “A ripe mess indeed my friend.” I said.
“Was there any true harm in the boys escape?” Harred asked.
“You need not worry. No, the boy was a pawn he knows nothing of importance.” I replied.
“So what now, if I might ask Lord Bregion?” He added.
“Leyda shall remain thane, I believe she is loyal to our cause now.. in the end, I believe she does owe us a lives debt doesn’t she?” I spoke, with a mischievous grin on my lips.
I sat back in the large oak chair in the corner, keeping an eye on the door.
I watched the men drink, and sing merry songs. Harred spend the early hours of the evening bragging about his share in the skirmish. About how he made the shielded man run, and broke the assault with a few swift strikes of his blade.
Harred then pointed at me. “Had ye seen lord Bregion over there! A vicious bastard he is, with that tender spear o’his.” I rolled my eyes, and send him a polite nod.. “Loud imbecile” I thought to myself

A few hours passed, before the inns door finally swung open. Feod and Cethelion both casually strode inside. Feod carried a large cotton sack over his shoulder and hailed me with his free hand. “We got most of’em” Feod said. “I think one or two got away from us, but no more.” Cethelion added.
“Hah, well done you two. I must ask… what is it you’ve brought in the sack?” I asked. “Oh some trinkets and all that, for the lady.” Cethelion replied.
I asked no further, for I did not really need to know what sort of trinkets he carried.. for our guest.
In the late hours of the evening, some would say early morning I went to the Mead-Hal.
To finally catch some rest..

The sun was yet to dawn when a young lad woke me however.. a page of the thane stood by my bed.
“Lady, Thane Leyda… she passed away during the night.” He spoke quietly.
I quickly rose out of bed, and looked the page in the eyes.
"The thane is alive, she is visiting Dor-Hallas, as am I. We left during the night and crossed into Gondor." I said to him, in a harsh tone.

Swiftly I made arrangements to dress one of my handmaidens as Leyda, and one of the Squires as I myself. I made sure the imposters where seen leaving Rohan by farmers and camping merchants alike.
Afterward I discussed the plan with the thane of Aldburg who agreed to help me, but wished regentship over Folcburg in return.
The thane then had the body smuggled out of town and burned, I send Feod with them to make sure the body was indeed disposed of.

((Five of my men made sure they safely left Rohan.. and by now.. they're out of the realm.))
