I thought that I would write about my experiences to come in Ered-Luin and the halls of my brother and son. I have wanted to leave earlier however the Grief of fallen dwarrows was still fresh and I would not dare to leave them without honoring the death for they have given their lives for the Steel hall. But now I depart for Ered-Luin at last and find myself looking forth to the road ahead as well as looking back to the road behind me. I left the command of Thakalgund in the hands of the Second-lord however I have been seen fit to remain in my rank as First-lord. I wonder what awaits me..
